As Justin Scarred mentioned at 09:04 in this video, it’s also noticeable how trees growing tall can have such a big impact in the perceived scale of anything next to them in the line of sight.

Sightlines: Keeping the illusion by controlling the perspective. This video is missing a key aspect: playing with scale to trick your eyes. Apart from that, 💯.

This cool video youtube.com/watch?v=f1fgzBE2Ff from @TechConnectify describes the whole purpose of the #StretchingRoom in the #HauntedMansion at #Disneyland (CA).

The ride was too big to fit inside the themed realms of the park, so a challenge appeared: moving guests to a big ride building across the Disneyland Railroad tracks, while keeping the #ThemeParkImmersion.

That's where the #StretchingRoom came in: a really fancy (and ample) elevator to lower guests to a tunnel under the tracks.

Aerial view of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland (California).

The decorative small mansion building is highly themed and stands in the themed area of the park, inside the Disneyland Railroad track loop. The ride queue leads up to this building.

The actual ride building is outside of the railroad track loop, and is a big and boxy white building.View of the decorative Haunted Mansion building, that only serves as the ride entrance and exit, and as the elevator housing, but doesn't contain the ride itself.

The #WDW ride that doesn't cease to fascinate me (and one featuring a unique ride system – no exact replicas elsewhere) is #TowerOfTerror.

There is a quite detailed schematic for the ride (kudos to Martin Smith), where we can appreciate how they ingeniously increased throughput by replicating sections – 4 auxiliary shafts leading to 2 main ones (where the drops happen), and actual vehicles that move between them, carrying guests.

Not so good for reliability though.. 😔

#themeParkImmersion #WDW

Hand-drawn schematic by Martin Smith for the Tower of Terror ride at Walt Disney World. There are 4 guest loading areas, each one leading to one auxiliary elevator shaft. These auxiliary shafts are named Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta, and have replicated show scenes. There are also two main shafts (the ones featuring the drop sequence, right behind a sign reading "The Hollywood Tower Hotel"), one named Echo and one named Foxtrot. Through a joint, Alpha and Bravo both lead to Echo. Through another joint, Charlie and Delta both lead to Foxtrot. The joints are in the top-most part of the auxiliary shafts. The ride vehicles are able to go through the joints because they are regular vehicles and not elevators – the shafts have elevators that tow those vehicles up and down. When the drop sequence finishes, they enter the same joint structure, this time replicated in the bottom-most part of the main shafts, and guests exit the vehicles.

During one of my typical theme park technology investigations, this site popped up, with #HTML5 simulations of popular #WDW rides. It is a good way to understand how they manage queues and turn them into an integral part of guest experience.

It seems the material is copyrighted though, so maybe it is time to develop some free alternatives 🔧👷🏽‍♂️

@DavidBFox Well... I couldn't find one, so I'll be using #themeParkImmersion! Probably not the hotest topic out there, but one some of us are really fond about.
