Lovedots is a project led within the context of Lettres d’amour exhibition in Pau, last spring. It’s a webapp running in node.js that allows people to compose love messages, send them to a public video-projection and discover them printed on a thermal printer. To shape the message, you’re invited to play with Harber, a dotted font of <3 by @benoitbodhuin. Undocumented, awkward code: codeberg.org/julienbidoret/dot, that might someday become cleaner with the help of @polylogue and @fhouste.

Rightnow is a nano-blogging tool in the terminal. Just type `now`, write down what you’re doing, and it updates your /now page. codeberg.org/julienbidoret/rig for the code and accentgrave.net/rightnow/ or accentgrave.net/now/ for the result (this last page is a proud member of encemoment.site by @joachim). No RSS, no ActivityPub hook, just a straightforward, naive and crude micro publishing tool.

Pechakucha is a raw HTML template for designing slideshows right in the browser. Quite easy to pimp and to fork, it has been updated thanks to @yann_t with a pdf generation script, and enhanced to support a remote pad to be used as the content source (which we used with @prepostprint folks for our talk at @lgm in Rennes). Even more precious, @slowpy used it to generate a portfolio, which I find really cool! codeberg.org/julienbidoret/pec

Let's go on with the roundup of my #tinyLibreTools of the past year. MyFFFonts is a local-first, browser-based webfonts manager. Dedicated to quickly enabling the testing of webfonts you own/downloaded, it has evolved into a font gallery that manages uploading and downloading of fonts packs + stylesheet, ready to be tried out in your #indieweb pages. The name stands for My Formidable Free Fonts, and is a solemn declaration of my immense gratitude for all the wonderful free font creators out there. Thanks. A. Lot. The code is here: codeberg.org/julienbidoret/myf, the demo there: myfffonts.accentgrave.net/

W is a gem of the indie and old-school web energy with a strong opinion: you can just do whatever you want with it. Developed by Vincent Peugnet who presented it during a @prepostprint meeting in Paris, it is somewhere between a personal #wiki engine and an #indieweb publishing tool. I offered to clean the UI a bit, so that I could use it with my students as a collective wiki (in the steps of @xpub practices). I faced the fact that I am a total dumb at git, but I’m quite happy with the job done with the backend, preserving the good old feeling, and enhancing a bit the experience for authors. You should definitely give it a try: w.club1.fr

I even published StolonScreenshot, a #nodejs script based on puppeteer that helps with creating thumbnails for the stems (~pens) gallery, by screen-shooting stems locally and on demand. The script is here: codeberg.org/julienbidoret/sto and its result there: ateliers.esad-pyrenees.fr/stol

Some months ago I asked @raphael if Stolon could be improved and adjusted for my own use, so that I can move out of #codepen and host my sketches on my server. He kindly replied GO! and we went though a wild and fun push / pull game to upgrade the editor, enhance the behavior, allow #pagedjs and #p5js templates. Check it out on gitlab.com/raphaelbastide/stol

Let’s start with PageTypeToPrint, the web + print thesis template made in PHP with #pagedjs. It has been slowly enhanced through the year, with minor bug fixes, improvements, and even a changelog. It is used, more and more, which makes me really happy. Two recent examples in the wild: Alice Neron used it for the great book Code du numérique, and Saul Pandelakis for his 900 pages HDR thesis. Damn. github.com/esadpyrenees/PageTy

Very often, I find myself confronted with the feeling of insignificance of my daily actions, as a teacher, designer, human being, etc. Today is no exception… Nevertheless, following toots will provide a recap of some tiny libre tools I've contributed to over the past year (linked through #tinyLibreTools).
