While only two of Urs Graf's (c1485-c1528) etchings have survived, this one dated 1513 is the earliest known etching with a confirmed date. It also has one of his most elaborate dagger signatures.

Urs Graf (c1485-c1528) was also a Swiss mercenary and many of his prints are particularly fascinating for their intricate depiction of soldiers. This 1515 print shows a council of war during a 1512 campaign.

Urs Graf (c1485-c1528) signed his prints with VG. As per the standards of the day, "U" is written as "V". Although the signature of this lovely lady from 1525 has the dagger Graf commonly included, other works are simply signed with "VG".
