We have a whiteboard where people can write stuff - current prompt is to write something motivational.

I come back from lunch to find someone has written:

"We have more money than the humanities combined, lol".

Entitled, privileged, utterly selfish comment to write during a massive funding crisis in HE.

Awful human beings.

Planning tomorrow's teaching while also preparing for this morning's teaching (on a totally different subject) has scrambled my brain today. Coffee time? Coffee time.

Heh, work emails addressed "To whom it may concern" crack me up, especially when it's just someone trying to reserve a book. We're not that formal, folks, just "Hi" is fine.

I do, however, get irate at the equally over-formal ones that start with "Dear sir" - have you time-travelled from the 1800s? Amazingly, women (and y'know other genders) can work these days, and even go to university. Wow.

another workday in HE, another set of emails uncritically supporting so-called AI, events on inclusion and neurodiversity that are only held in person in a windowless basement lecture room, and messages from senior leaders who earn more in a year than I do in ten about how we're all in this together while budgets get cut.
