@histodons Finding this theme in my oral histories of women organizing with ACORN. Need more lit to work with, and want to make sure I am listening to and citing women of color.
@histodons "There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives." Audre Lorde. Looking for historical research and writing on examples of this in U.S. social movements and orgs.
@hello Hi! How do I post in this group or tag members of this group? I have an academic history question and don't know how to reach out to the humanities community!
"There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives." Audre Lorde. Looking for historical scholarship on examples and discussionof this in U.S. social movements and orgs. #Histodons Also, can any one tell me how to post this on a history focused thread or server or group? Clueless over here!
This place waxes ever more chaotic. I haven’t seen us this united since big boat stuck in canal ha ha days. It’s almost like sea shanty days are back, except bad.
If you want something to look forward to, Mastodon 4.0 will be released on Monday so soon enough you'll be able to translate posts and follow hashtags! :catjam:
Correction-- the Roundtable is on Sunday morning. First up, hopefully, is on the Revolutionary South and the Black Caribbean.
Assuming the term “Musk to tusk” has yet to be coined, I’d like for that to be my first (and only) contribution to the migration discourse. #introduction #noxp

How do I find #histodons working in similar areas? Are there groups and ways to search? #USHistory #SocialMovements #UrbanHistory
#Histodon I'm looking for histories, critiques, and analysis of ACORN's organizing model-- specifically as it relates to empowering members to be organizers. There's very little, that I've found, that is not hagiographic. Pls let me know if there are other hashtags etc. to reach the historian, poli-sci, sociological groups and people.
@benjamingeer To clarify, it's an MA, so slightly lower stakes. But there are so many rabbit holes to go down in the research1

Historians are doing intros. I'll continue my attempted fraud with mine: I'm almost done with a terminal MA in Public History at UMBC. Interests: oral history, Histories of: tenant and housing organizing, housing and public health, Baltimore!, CPUSA. Hoping to connect with broad audience via writing, digital humanities, and (taking suggestions...)
While home sick with covid and 5 months to go I've come up with 4 much better topics for my thesis. Is this a thing? #histodons #PublicHistory
@HWiesenmueller Oh now this sounds like a podcast I'd actually listen to!
