Well, I had a job for 3 months. I felt extremely lucky to have gotten it.

I think my biggest emotion is disappointment. My coworkers and the culture was really nice and fit me so well. But, poof. It's humbling and scary how fast it happens.

I'll keep figuring it out.

It has been two years, most of which was intensive study to orchestrate a career change without formal schooling. Other than getting my original degree its been the hardest, most expensive personal project I've ever worked on, and it's done.

I know being ghosted on applications while job hunting is common, so when I get this email:

“We appreciate your interest in joining the _______ team.

We often get an overwhelming response from individuals interested in our positions and we aren't able to review all of the applications that we received, and that's what happened here.”

Priorities have reshuffled. Still very interested in Cybersecurity, just taking a longer journey to get there that is a more comfortable pace for me and my personal resources.

@furby Heya, so sorry I hadn't checked infosec.exchange in quite a bit. It's been an intense...2...3?..4 months.

I decided to postpone my Sec+ until next September, but I did get my A+ cert!

I made the decision to slow down a bit. Making the jump from nothing to Sec+ was a bit big for me and my current resources. But I'm really excited to finally get into the tech ecosystem somewhere and keep going from there.

I totally get procrastinating. I tend to "productively procrastinate" by getting stuff done other than the one thing that is intimidating me.

I've done it: I've moved across the continent. Back in the PNW.
I've secured my CompTIA A+ certification.
I have two phone interviews this week. Once I secure a job, it will be the culmination of an incredibly intense year+.

Rearranging my entire life is hard. Really hard. I'm so *tired*, but so excited.

Y'all don't forget to say thank you to your coworkers. You have no idea how much of a difference it can make in someone's day, productivity, and general engagement. Sincere thanks goes a long way.

The latest version of Mastodon (4.2.0) brings full text search, so you can search by words instead of hashtags.

However, for privacy reasons this only includes posts by people who have actively opted into full text search.

If your server is updated to 4.2.0 and you want to opt into full text search:

1. Log into your server's website
2. Click your profile icon
3. Click "Edit Profile"
4. Click tab "Privacy & Reach"
5. Tick box "Include Public Posts In Search results"
6. Click "Save Changes"
