If you believe the by-and-large awfulness of the world is caused by a corresponding by-and-large awfulness of humans, I think you're ignoring what we know about systems and what we know about causation, and what you, personally, know about the people you care for.

I think you're making exactly the sort of mistake that creates the by-and-large awfulness of the world.

Interesting that I've seen two articles recently defending our electoral system.

William Bowe at Crikey:

Kevin Bonham at The Guardian:

My 2 cents is I'm ok with current system, but I wish people would better understand the lower house system. Particularly that a party winning lot of seats there doesn't necessarily mean the public directly endorsed that party.

@MsDropbear42 They aren't going to go away themselves. We have to organise, rise, and push them off.

My new default message in response to "clicktivist" emails

I support your position on this, but I am unwilling to sign my name to anything which offers the toxic Nazi platform X as a sharing option #auspol

"Instead of using actual spray cans, some artists are just cleaning dirt off of certain areas to make their masterpieces and they are calling it reverse graffiti"

(This one is by Paul 'Moose' Curtis of the Reverse Graffiti Project )

Today Australia wakes up to a new political landscape.
ALP majority government, devastated LNP group, community (and other) Independents maintaining their presence in Reps and Senate. Greens holding on.
How this plays out? I'll leave this to those with more front or knowledge.
It will be interesting to watch.
@CAPADAUS will continue working to make our political system work more democratically.

@martintheg
Two of the 3 candidates had accepted our invitation. We heard nothing from the Liberal Bola Olatunbosun. But only a single voter.
Out of respect for the candidate's time we called it off.
