Time for some more old art to beef up this profile. Every time I go back and look at this one from many years ago I'm surprised by how much I actually like how it looks (typically that's no guarantee). Some day I'd like to get back to doing a few more of those old 'wax figure' drawings that I used to do.

Does anyone know how to get #Akkoma to refresh remote posts? My server keeps showing me a cached version of what the posts looked like when they first arrived, never fetching any updates (e.g. new replies). Tried 4 different clients, so definitely a server issue.

I don't usually agree this hard with anything on the orange website, but damn.

I block ads because they're psychological warfare that corporations wage against me. I don't care how unobtrusive the ads are. I don't care if the ads don't track me. I grew up changing the channel on TV when ads came on, and ripping adverts out of magazines before sitting down to read them. I vote for billboard bans whenever I can. I have zero tolerance for ads of any sort.

Advertisers have no morals, they're completely depraved. They'll eagerly exploit a teenager's self-conscious body issues to sell useless beauty products. They sell sugar water to fat people and at every turn promote the rampant consumerist culture that is destroying our planet. They're lower than pond scum and I never want to see a single ad from them ever.

2023 - Twitter, Reddit and YouTube. Who’s next?

Well, it was nice while it lasted. My private #Nitter server let me use my RSS reader to fetch the feeds of the few Twitter users (mostly artists and conventions) who still aren't posting anywhere else. But now that Twitter requires an account even for reading, I guess they really don't want anyone outside their walled garden looking in.

My ground floor apartment comes with a tiny yard. When I moved in, it contained a sterile monocultural grass lawn. I spent this midsummer weekend changing that. After digging, filling, getting friends to drive me from the garden store, and taking the spoils to the recycling centre by bicycle (six trips!), half of the lawn is now replaced with a flower bed containing perennials hopefully enjoyed by bees (pause for "BEES!" from the audience, only to notice that I'm not currently at ConFuzzled).
