Understand that if the person calls you up at nearly the last minute and says they can't make it, it's not about you. Don't pester the person into showing up.

And don't write the person off entirely and never ask them to anything again just for flaking out.

I was just in the yard with the dog and there was a flash of lightning and a roll of thunder. Then a murder of about 30 crows flew west over my house. I don't know if that means anything specifically, but it just felt like it might be a portent of doom and not a portent of happiness.

We went out of town recently and some friends came by each day for cat care. We wanted to make sure that no one shooed the boys off of their favorite kitchen counter, so we left a note.

(Honestly, we left way too many notes. But I can't help it. I get so anxious about leaving them!)

and then was arrested and placed on probation for drug possession --

and then, AFTER BEING SWORN IN AS A MANHATTAN PROSECUTOR, failing his bar exam, and resigning as prosecutor, was busted for heroin possession.

Yes, drug addiction is an illness and should be forgiven. But people who repeatedly make really bad decisions probably shouldn't be president.

My cat is so cute. He always waits outside the bathroom for me and I can tell he's there because I see his shadow under the door. This morning his shadow left and I yelled 'OI! Where are you going?' and he ran back and poked both his little paws under the door 🥹
