Evri have done their usual of sending me a "proof of delivery" that is a picture of someone else's parcel outside someone else's door, with a map of someone else's address. Bizarrely, my parcel is actually at my flat when I get home.

No Google, those are not 2019 Vauxhall Vivas.

Frank Baker, author of "The Call of Cornwall", "Stories of the Strange and Sinister", "Talk of the Devil", and much more, died this day 1983. A recent discovery for me, despite his Cornish connexions. #OTD #OnThisDay

Watching Count Dracula with #TheFilmCrowd tonight has decided me, my next occult/horror/weird read will be Dracula, by Bram Stoker. Finished "Spores of Doom" by Aaron Worth just before it started, so will get stuck right in.

@DuncanMSussex I'm doing ok thanks, you? I wouldn't buy a crepe pan myself ( but they have them in Lidl regularly so they must sell. Tagines I think people buy after a holiday. If I ever needed chopsticks I daresay I'd possess some! But I manage OK with ordinary cutlery. I suspect the fancy Jap knives are for men who can't afford an E-Type. The article is really just advertising, not journalism. The Guardian gets a cut if you click through to buy.

@DuncanMSussex I'm British. From that list I've got tea towels (not posh French ones though, cheap British and Irish linen, half of them souvenirs), a moka pot (rarely used), a cheap kettle from Argos, and a pepper mill. Never heard of a cazuela before. I've got friends who own tagines, but the only ones who actually use them are Algerian. And anyone who spends $160 on a kitchen knife is insane. And a lot richer than most people I know.

Pretty good! I would have cut the ending even tighter. You see the girl, you hear Loomis screaming, and CUT.

Now watching... Halloween IV: The Return of Michael Myers

2025-10-20

Watching Francis Durbridge's Melissa on @talkingpicstv . It's exactly the same plot as every other Francis Durbridge. That's not a criticism.
