@HoptheScorbunny As long as all the software you need on a regular basis is compatible with Linux or you dual-boot. Then yes, Linux is a simple, flexible, and customizable experience. I've used it regularly since January of this year and can't really say anything negative about the experience.

@0hlov3 I use cinnamon, which is based on gnome. The reason is that it's user-friendly and resembles the UI of Windows, which until Linux was the only desktop OS I had ever used.
I have also used Xfce and KDE Plasma.
The customizeablity and transparency of open-source are the main reasons I favor Linux.
