I once again ask laptop vendors to release their pink variants in the high end models too. Thanks.
Just a depressed and anxious mess of a snep, living in the Five Colleges grid of west central Massachusetts. Former utility DCS field service engineer with IT specialization, who should’ve been working the dark, warm, Zero-G section of an interstellar cruiser. Pagan leaning atheist. She/her 🏳️⚧️⚧☣️ Posts auto nuke after a month
I once again ask laptop vendors to release their pink variants in the high end models too. Thanks.
It's nice and quiet back here...

@JessTheUnstill Yeah it could be argued that we “won” the original Iraq war in the sense that we forced Hussein out of Kuwait, but everything else has been a mess, that has caused bigger messes, starting with the CIA overthrow of the democratic Iranian government to install the Shaw. Theres probably move before that too, but I just know it
@soatok in this article you in passing mention something that has frustrated me for some time in software engineering as someone with a bit more of a hardware background, and that is how much important stuff doesn't build on formal specifications, even big infrastructure projects! And when I have brought this up I'm often met with something along the lines of "but that is not very agile" or "we moved away from waterfall". Sure that small backyard shed you can yolo together, but why are we doing the same thing for the highway bridges of the software world?
The next #Gaussfest will be happening at the London Museum of Water and Steam Mid-October, The actual date will be released in May.
To make sure you are informed of the date, you can register for our (infrequent) updates here:
@janusfox Got snow and ice yesterday evening/this morning. Supposed to to be 50F today but won’t stay. Long range forecast is for 70F next week, followed by cold and snow. Weather certainly has been screwy
"Your generation has never even heard of Smokey and the Bandit"
"What? Smoking bandits? Sounds like criminals hanging around getting high."
"No, that was Cheech and Chong"
@JessTheUnstill Considering our historical success we’ve had with land wars in far west Asia, I imagine this will end up just as successful as the previous ones: a quagmire
[ edit: it's a Usekh which is a form of Collar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usekh_collar ]
Help a #writer out? What do you call this collar thing Maashes and Anubis are wearing here?
@brolf @tekhedd @rusty__shackleford @soatok For the most part. He was teaching a class full of EE majors and he was a CS prof. He really didn’t us EEs. He almost cut off my computer privileges (DEC-10 mainframe), because I was playing around with the login system to try and apply it to my account, so friends could get access to my account. Then I dropped privileges so a friend could look at a program, and I was threatened with a fail
Don’t call it age verification. Call it centralised personal data collection. And understand that it serves surveillance, not safety for children. Thank you for your cooperation.
@amayasnep Physical buttons ftw!
now that's what I call world-building
@homestucklinebyline I totally get this. I wish it was real also
Call to action to cis people: be assholes anytime you get asked for your sex assigned at birth. Write letters, complain to staff, refuse to answer. Make it impossible to collect sex assigned at birth. Be really offended that anyone would ask you. Make enough noise that if trans people want to quietly not answer or give whatever answer feels correct to them, no one will notice.
Every day, when I arrive home, I give Max treats
So he's learned what time I get home and tends to be waiting for me. And he recognises the sound of my house keys and comes running (also useful when I want him to come inside)
Unfortunately, he's decided that, since he gets treats when I come home, he should also get treats when he comes home. So every time he comes in during the day, he expects treats
And he makes me feel so guilty for not always giving them
@hendric Thank you so much. I spent so much time trying and failing to find that. I probably saw something like that elsewhere, but had no context to how it fit with the STR instruction page.
Thanks again!
