@EvilAlan Same... and I rotate between the same few games I've always played. Most of these I've acquired in bundles or gifts from someone else.

Hope Musk didn't fire that one guy... #geekhumor
My experience being a senior *nix admin has been 30% technical, 15% research/development and 55% politics/functional support role.
An Incredible Day In Internet History
It started with the Twitter lockout. 10,000 new users per hour. A QUARTER MILLION people migrated to Mastodon in one day. The servers struggled. Remarkably, admins all over the world built up capacity in real time. New users were patient. The system held.
It's running better now. There will be more hard days ahead, but people powered social media has arrived.
I feel like a Mastodon client optimized for developers would be super fun. Here's an early concept!
I did GPU passthrough with KVM, QEMU and VFIO about 5 years ago. My current hardware does not have integrated so I cannot blacklist the GPU from my kernel in my current setup. Currently scoping hardware that will let me do that again. 👀

@tilton I am holding hope for some M2 upgrades to the Mini and Studio in the future, but I have a feeling they will tackle the Mac Pro first and probably update the iMac.
@Malcolm66 Unfortunately my only testing I was able to do was on my wife's M1 Macbook Air, which wasn't a powerhouse to begin with. I keep eyeballing the Mac Studio 👀 My main use case is spinning up labs for VMs and containers. I guess if worse came to worst I would just spin up some cloud instances.
Does anyone happen to know of any serious competitors to Apple Silicon besides Microsoft’s Surface lineup?

I am still very hesitant on buying into the Apple Silicon hardware because I do not know how serious the market is about ARM. Microsoft has their own lineup, but not sure if devs are just too comfortable on x86_64 architecture.
Actually surprised how well some things run on Crossover for MacOS (Intel). There’s a few kinks here and there with games that require other services, like Rockstar Launcher for GTA IV/V, but for the most part games like Isonzo (my newer fave) has run okay on all settings. I wonder what other tweaks I can make to improve performance.
@beemdvp Totally agree. Centrally managed social media is like putting all of your eggs in one basket. At least here you have to the choice to move to a different instance/provider. :)
@beemdvp could you elaborate?
@VintageVeloce yep, the official app, at least on iOS, is really smooth.
Coming from a security and compliance background, I am curious what kind of challenges Mastadon instance owners/operators have when it comes to international regulatory compliance. Do you still have to comply with GDPR (or does the service comply with this automatically) and other heavier international regulations?
