The more time goes by, the more aware I am that I am autistic. I’m grateful for all the autistic people who have shared their experiences—I feel like I’m not alone anymore (unless I want to be). ♾️🌈

Autism research is not always a cheering thing for autistic people to read about. One way to keep up with positive developments in it is to set up alerts so you hear about it when particular researchers are cited.
For example, yesterday saw an unusually large crop of promising papers citing Damian Milton, the #ActuallyAutistic scholar best known for identifying the 'double empathy problem', who has also worked on monotropism and flow, among other things:
* "I Am Human, Just Like You": What Intersectional, Neurodivergent Lived Experiences Bring to Accessibility Research
* The potential for successful autistic aging: Proposing a lifespan developmental psychology approach
* Barriers and facilitators to ethical co-production with Autistic people with an eating disorder
* A qualitative investigation into autistic adults' perspectives on intervention goals for autistic children
* Understanding autistic camouflaging: The use of online community discussions and stigmatized identity research
* Therapeutic Residential Interventions for Harmful Sexual Behaviour-A Theory of Change
* Autistic Self-Advocacy and the Neurodiversity Movement: Implications for Autism Early Intervention Research and Practice
One way to keep up with such developments is to 'follow' researchers on Google Scholar, using a Google account. You have the option to hear about new articles by them, new citations of their work and/or 'related' publications.
Here is Damian Milton's profile, just as an example. From here, you can also see where each paper has been cited.
