I have chased off Telus, roofers, student painters, the worst are Jehovahs (and actually did a police complaint against them, fucking cult)
Our postie is great, always masks if there is something we need to sign, the rest are just ambivalent assholes
@blogdiva Canada ain't great on disaster relief (plenty of examples), but we do emergencies almost perfectly - a metaphor for our health system

For a there is good in the world moment - our cat Seamus is actually fascinated by the big diggers, dump trucks as crews are putting in new piping. He's careful, and the crews have got to know him so watch out
Today a digger stopped, honked, driver pointed - the cat was in the cab, having a great time sitting on the dash getting rides up and down the street for gravel runs
Hilarious, he got spoiled with treats

@martin_fff @chris they painted the deck a hideous neon green (it collapsed because they never took care of this house) - new deck, fencing, new lawn etc., and funny, the assessment value of everybody near us goes up - even though for what we did had no permits

@chris when we bought our house the entire huge front yard was a mess of shoulder high weeds, so we had a landscaper team literally bulldoze, new soil etc, and the very front just off the street, put brick lined gravel, with a heavy weed barrier underneath - now all ripped up (technically city property) - BUT, the city came around and took pics, said they would restore it as we made improvements - I like drainage style vs hard concrete, but it gets weeds fast
