@Devorppa everything bad about Australia started in 1996 with John Howard.

@maudenificent totally agree but I worked in the gas industry in the 1970-80’s and all gas appliances leak. Personally I don’t want to have methane/propane/butane/heptane and a mix of other carcinogenic gases piped into the house to leak out of every gas appliance.
Tradies are the lesser of the two evils.

To quote the amazing Babylon 5. “And so it begins!!”
I hope Australia declines to join the USA on this one.

@maudenificent Flat tin roof. But I have heard of sloping tiled roofs having problems after the panels were installed.

@maudenificent I can speak of my experience not give advice. I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to fix the roof after the panels were placed incorrectly. Water cascading through the light fittings is not a pleasant experience.

The actual solution to productivity is getting businesses to invest in training and tools for their employees. Hawke found this out when he provided incentives to Australian bus(nesses to invest in technology. Australia’s banks all bought and implemented new computer systems and networking in the 90’s which resulted in significant productivity boosts.
Business needs to embrace AI, additive manufacturing, get rid of crude gas/coal and move to high precision electric. Train your staff and provide incentives for them to reskill. Those that can’t reskill set them up in a long term solutions team to work on those problems that have been worked around for years.

Cutting wages and conditions is lazy Harvard MBA thinking. #auspol

It was pretty cool this morning. About minus 4. The local kangaroos didn't seem too bothered though.

We all know there will be no nuclear submarines for Australia and there is no way we can prize that $800 million cheque out of Trumps hands. Marles should be sacked and AUKUS scrapped. #auspol And no basing US submarines in Perth.

SMH:
AUKUS is a disaster for Australia. Trump has given us an out – let’s take it

it’s possible the Trump administration will tank the whole thing. And we can safely assume that won’t mean handing back the $800 million Australia has already invested

... We were never likely to get any submarines, and all the deal does is tie us ever closer to an increasingly volatile and aggressive America.

Trump has given us an... out. We should take it.
