"Finished" #BluePrince 25h
2/5, disliked it
Pluses :
- A really interesting drafting and tile placing system
- Initially addicting curiosity drip feed
Cons :
- I suck at/hate hidden object type games
- Lots of dead air walking around waiting for the next decision point
- Overstayed its novelty
A really novel mix of drafting and placing rooms to create your own maze + explore these rooms for scraps and sometimes small puzzles
But eventually both of these mechanics fumble all over eachother:
- Drafts are bogged down by replaying through the same rooms instead of making the execution trivial (eg: Re-type a safe key in a specific room each time to get a gem)
- Exploration/Discovery held back by draft RNG
2 friends already calling it GOTY so maybe it's for you too but just not me
I wish it had committed fully to the boardgame aesthetic and ease of execution instead of going first person but I guess it wouldnt have sold as well
