I hope the Fediverse is restricting Threads. The amount of trolls on there is absolutely mindblowing.
I still get the 206 server problem and now can post any new posts but can reply to this one here.

@flexghost @Tweetfiction it’s absolute madness. Meta has mega problems. They aren’t paying their creators. Apparently they’re currently experiencing delays in the content monetisation policy checks for VOD. Whatever that means. There’s literally a Social Media platform war going on. Sounds like all those platforms are fighting for the attention of content creators and users. No matter how ethical it is. It’s all about attention. Apparently Meta still wants to connect to Mastodon.
The housemartins just above my window have a very heated discussion this morning. 😂
Respect to @ryanbroderick for saying the words that so many journalists seem unable to utter: Threads sucks.

That’s true. Meta turns into just an entertainment page. Nothing deep, critical or meaningful. They want to deliver dopamine fixes 24/7.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri says pretty conclusively they don’t want Threads to be the new app for news and journalists. Makes sense given Meta is threatening to pull news in Canada and California.
Ultimately, Threads is a sanitized space for brands, grifters, and celebrities — all designed to sell you more shit.
Mastodon went from 1.2M active users last week to 1.8M active users this week. That's not 70M users overnight, but it's something! 🙂
@bryanruby @jasonhowlin nobody is really going to Threads. Instagram users only can use threads. Threads is an extension that's it. I doubt that Threads will last. There's nothing new Meta created there. It reeks of desperation when you need to launch something crappy like Threads. It's diverting from the real issues Meta had and trying to fix like pedophile networks that were able to harvest Instagram with the use of hashtags. Interesting article came out about that in June.
6) Here's my prediction, although I acknowledge I could be wrong. Meta is losing ground fast, and it would be a stroke of luck if it survives the next five years, particularly in light of AI advancements. It wouldn't surprise me if Zuckerberg rebrands or "steps down," paving the way for something new. It seems social media, in its current form, has its days numbered.
5) It appears Meta is slowly morphing into the digital equivalent of a low-cost gossip magazine from the past, filled with news of rising stars. To deflect attention from their inherent issues, Meta resorts to quick, dopamine-inducing gimmicks like Threads. It's akin to throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.
4) Emphasis is given to features like Reels. However, the launch of Threads, in my view, is merely a diversion from the real issues Meta is facing. It's generally used by businesses for promotion or clickbait purposes.
The intellectual community doesn't seem to be their target audience. As you can observe from a post by Adam Mosseri (the head of Instagram), the focus is on the Fashion and Entertainment sectors.
3) From my observations, Meta's primary aim is to create a breed of influencers who produce entertaining, light-hearted, and peace-promoting content. They envision a community of influencers earning from ad revenues on their videos and collaborations with larger brands. Businesses that do not conform to this vision find their reach limited, and while they can resort to running ads to attract clients, this can prove expensive.
