VANTABlack

I am an Indie Game Developer who is trying to learn as much as I can about Game Dev like Art, Programming, and Music.

@LukaTheMouse Congrats. It's good to see your gane, so high up on Trending. I am not in a position to buy Squekross yet, but when I am this will be one of the first games I buy.

It's that time again. I wanted to add a video to my Showcase this month, but ran into some problems. I showed off what I can here though vantablack2000.itch.io/softie-

@beanjbunny I didn't realize this existed. I may have to look into it to see what it does on certain platforms.

I am going to try to post here more often. I am going to start sharing Indie Games I have enjoyed playing in case people haven't heard of them and would like them.

Feel free to add your own indie games in the comments that you want to spread awareness of.

This time I am going to shout out UFO50 and Robot Wants It All. I had quite a bit of fun with both ESPECIALLY UFO50.

@beanjbunny I don't really know what I am doing in Godot and am trying to learn as I go.

It's that time again. I published the April Update for Softie Reflection.

I had to do some refactoring this month, but it put me in a much better groove when it comes to developing the game.

I made some more graphical changes, polished the camera controller, and for this screenshot you can see more of the shirts on hangers.

You can read more about the screenshot on the Dev Log here vantablack2000.itch.io/softie-

It's that time again I published the March Dev Log update for Softie Reflection.

I am starting to get into more of a development groove and am getting close to finishing the first level. I made some graphical changes and some other changes you will have to check the Dev Log to see.

Shoutout to @fufroom and @LouisvilleMakesGames

I just read through their new zine Warp Zine. It was very fun to read through and see what games are being made in Kentuckiana.

You can check it out yourself here louisvillemakesgames.itch.io/w

I don't have anything in this issue, but once I have more of a project to show off I might try to make something for Warp Zine.

It's that time again. I published another post for the Dev Log of Softie Reflection.

It's not much but there are some graphical improvements and a teaser to the hidden object in the first level.

If you are looking for a short little game to play during the holiday season I just played store.steampowered.com/app/337 and had fun. It's a short game, but I really like the art style and simple controls.

@beanjbunny I have mixed up global and local positions multiple times. That sounds like a fun idea. Maybe you could do something like mixing up axes or getting positive and negative x on an axis mixed up.

@mizarc That's fair. I don't tend to roleplay as other characters when I play games, but a friend of mine talked about doing that in games like Monster Hunter.

I think the only times a character creator DOESN'T make sense is when the game has a set story it is trying to tell and you don't have much wiggle room to role play as your own character. Legend of Zelda is the first game that comes to mind that I think fits that.

@mizarc I think it depends on the game. Some games it is kind of useless, but a game like Stardew Valley is SO MUCH BETTER with a character creator so you can really feel like it is YOU in the game.

Then again it depends on what kind of character creator we are talking about because you can have very complex character creators or something as simple as picking a color and hat or something like that.

@MouseDotExecutable Looks Great. The more I look at it the more I notice small details like the footprints leading to Malin.

@bredev Looks fun. I have added the game to my wishlist. I can't wait to see more of the devlog.

@MouseDotExecutable Nice. I really like the look of the texturing. You seem to be making some interesting looking drawings for inktober.

@krazyjakee @bitbraindev When I was deciding on where to market my games this just felt like a much better platform compared to Twitter. Overall it feels like it is easier to find others in a certain space here than it seems like it would be on Twitter.

@itsanecdotal I played the demo for this the other day and it was so much fun. I really like the concept and have already wishlisted the game on Steam.

@supernovafiles It may be a bit tedious, but you could figure out the progress on the path to make it, so if it hits that progress it will stop. alternatively you could add an area 2D I guess so once it enters that area it sets the bool and stops.

@supernovafiles I could be wrong, but when I used Path3Ds for a project I had to update the position of the path through a script, so you could just add an if and a bool to make it stop while shooting then go back to what it was doing if that makes sense. This was on 4.3 though, so I am not sure how much it changes between versions.
