J’ai un pote qui voudrait apprendre le développement de jeux avec Godot, mais qui préfère apprendre en lisant des livres papier (avec du vrai papier oui 😐), plutôt qu’en lisant des tutos ou de la documentation sur écran.
Est-ce que vous auriez une recommandation d’un bon bouquin papier (en français ou anglais), pour débuter ? Il a un niveau débutant en création de jeux, et intermédiaire en programmation.
(Et un livre pas écrit par IA svp. 😔)

#RIAD [WIP]
after working on the game menu system,
i am now back on developing the close combat system and npc ai.
Currently i am preparing a "knock the enemy out" function, where the enemy can recover and stand up again.
Mini devlog: first end to end gathering loop is working. You can venture out, gather resources, and bring them back. No crafting or selling yet, but the core loop is playable and that is a key pillar. Next up: stabilize gathering and UI, formalize drop tables, and connect the loop to crafting and trading. Small bug: deleting items from storage breaks my resource dashboard. The game becomes a game slowly :D !
the fact you can run the #GodotEngine editor on android means i can even do gamejams fully on my phone lol. the future is here, i've always wanted a true pocket computer
Small update to my game. Now I have added rock scattering and got new corals. Also some performance and movement improvements. Things finally start to shape up.

I can't imagine building a 3d game without proper LOD support, unless we are dealing with very specific genres, love to know how people does their 3d environment in larger scenes, manual HLOD?
Second question, for imported mesh, godot allows us to auto generate lods, but it has very minimal lod generation control: it is ON or OFF, no other adjustment exposed whatsoever.
For previewing these per-object lod transitions, all we have right now is a project-level LOD threshold... no way to preview them individually AFAIK, not even in import preview?
I am sure with a bit of scripting we can do better, but LOD seems like an area in #GodotEngine that could use a lot of love.

Are there any simple modeling addon for #GodotEngine ? Say I want to edit a CSG Mesh instance, adjust its smoothing group (or hard edges) for examples, do I have to export them to other DCC?
I can't seem to find any import options for CSG Mesh after baking them into instances. Are these only available for fbx/gltf/obj files?

Quick update for players: the core loop is taking shape: go out, gather, bring items back. Inventory now supports drag and drop, gathering is in but buggy, and tiles have quality that changes loot chances. Tiles remember if they were looted recently so exploration matters. Next up: fix bugs, polish UI, connect crafting and trading.
