Found an old picture of my home network from the old house. Obvs I was something of a Sun Microsystems / 'nix fan. The noise, heat, and electric bill were obscene, however there wasn't much I couldn't do on the network. Good times..

@wlukewindsor That's always a danger for sure. A good cleaning is all you can do, then put up with it until you manage to find a cleaner copy. I've got to say, of the various cartridges I own and use, I find the Pickerings (I've a couple) to behave really quite well on less than perfect discs, often tracking and sounding better than newer/much more expensive carts. The Analogis styli for them, in particular, seems to have much to offer.

I'd suggest he lost huge credibility with that one ... Strange, strange things to have said...

Cannot recommend it high enough.. makes a world of difference.. eliminates all the telemetry and other rubbish.. leaves the OS faster, more stable, and infinitely less intrusive..

Using DoNotSpy, with literally everything except windows update selected does an enormously good job of getting rid of the ads, nagging and other horse-shittery. Almost makes windows usable.
I've been using it for >3 years now without issue.. great stuff..

@alexhall Word it for what it is... "only install them, if the sluggish response, instability, likelihood of data loss, and likelihood of having to reformat/reinstall, akin to typical Windows 11 behaviour are acceptable to you.
I've found it immensely entertaining that consistently, beta releases of Apples OS's or Linux distros are typically higher quality code than MS gold code for Win 11...

Next on deck, Pocol Harum: Exotic Birds and Fruit. This one had a bit of a unique feel amongst their music, but is worthy of play time. Wilson and Cartwright both do some brilliant and understated work on this one. Tis worth putting on a high-resolution system or listening through GOOD headphones to pick up everything going on.

Wonderful music this.. stuff of legends.

I'm sure others have done this, but it's worth mentioning to those who might not have as it offers up results that I've not been able to achieve with any other method. I've laser cut a 295mm dia disc from 2mm thick PTFE, lasered the 7.25mm pilot hole and using it in place of an LP, it's exceptionally good for setting anti-skate. It's no secret that the values on most tonearms with adjustable anti-skate aren't even remotely close, but this method allows you to set for absolute neutrality with no bias whatsoever. I've used this on all 3 turntables now with excellent result. Very much worth doing for anyone so inclined. Works much better than the typical blank section of test/setup LP's. The ultralow friction nature of PTFE is handy here.
Note: this left no residue at all on the actual stylus, though I gave it a quick brush when finished.
