I love that cats that arenβt domesticated donβt meow when they grow up, but domesticated cats do because they learned humans donβt understand their natural communication, so they keep meowing beyond the kitten stage just for us. So basically cats made up a language just to talk to us. And that language is essentially baby talk.
It's the other way round. Babylon 5 came first and in fact was shopped to Paramount by creator J Michael Straczynski before Deep Space 9 was conceived.
Paramount got all the details on a space station based series then announced their own.
I think both series are amazing but Babylon 5 being almost entirely written by one person who pre-planned it all in advance is something no one else has pulled off before or since with so many episodes per season.
That thing where the cat does this amazing leap all the way from the window, using me as a relay springboard to hit his favorite chair and totally gets me, caught by complete surprise, right in the nards.

The super rich are characterized by their capacity to financially engineer away tax liability. It is a feature they share with the corporations they own and control.
One has to ask why they so urgently pursue tax reduction, when they pay almost nothing in taxes anyway.
The reduction in taxation just like regulation is motivated by the desire to never be held to account to have total power over everyone and everything else.
Yeah, it's me. The bush.
You got it tough?
I got ripped off my parent before I knew what was going on, masticated in a seagull's craw, stewed in the foulest acid bath ever, crapped out on to a shallow bed of basaltic gravel exposed to the elements and that was just the start.
I grew. Yeah, the hard way. Badass, me.
I eat granite and car exhaust for breakfast and crap out oxygen. Rain, shine, drought, hurricane, I'm on my own. I get gnawed on by some bastard seagull, I just keep sprouting.
I don't know that they _are_ all twats, but from here and work, they certainly all come across as twats.
Talking about the folks working the AI racket.
"Hi. My hungry AI wants to slurp stuff. That's cool, right, so we're just gonna go ahead. Toodles."
AI related requests get turbo roundfiled. The air makes a popping sound at the sudden displacement.
The times change, the snake oil game stays the same.
That thing where you wake up at 4 am, make the mistake of checking the news, now it's three hours later and you're both exhausted before the day's even proper started and too awake to even think of trying to sneak in a quick catnap.
I think the thing I miss most about the 20th century is that it wasn't "always on".
Things had breaks and recesses and pauses and you heard more birdsong in the gaps.
OH MY GOD THERE IS MORE.
You have to excuse him: he has the benefit of heighten (sic) pattern recognition.

> Signal groups, in particular, are more powerful than you might be aware of, even if you already use them all the time. In this post I'll show you how to:
- Turn an in-person meeting into a Signal group using QR codes
- Manage large semi-public groups while still vetting new members
- Make announcement-only groups, perfect for volunteer networks rapidly responding to things like ICE raids

This explains a lot. Stephen Miller is the defacto head of ICE. Kristi Noem is essentially the pr head.

The speed of Trump. Iran is told its leader, presumably being somehow safeguarded, is targeted and can be hit at leisure and Iran should "unconditionally surrender" in all caps.
Time moves all weird now but this latest shooting match only started Friday 13 June and it's only been three and a bit days for the US-funded-and-backed-but-somehow-not-itself-involved-despite-posting-ongoing-threats war to get to this point.
Now what?
