🧩 3️⃣ Falla en WhatsApp y Signal permite extraer datos mediante “confirmaciones silenciosas”.

Investigadores de seguridad han revelado una vulnerabilidad de privacidad crítica, denominada "Careless Whisper", que permite a los atacantes rastrear silenciosamente la actividad de los usuarios de WhatsApp y Signal (más de tres mil millones de afectados) mediante el análisis de las confirmaciones de entrega.

Al enviar acciones invisibles, como reacciones a contenido inexistente, los atacantes miden el tiempo de ida y vuelta de la red (RTT) para determinar el estado del dispositivo (pantalla encendida, apagada, aplicación en primer plano), inferir horarios de uso e incluso agotar la batería, todo ello con solo conocer el número de teléfono, sin que la víctima reciba alerta alguna; no obstante, a pesar de haber sido reportada hace meses, Meta no ha lanzado un parche y Signal ignoró los hallazgos.
