@mcdanlj Welcome back to ham radio and stay the course in your journey to master the code.
First licensed in 1968, I spend most of my time on CW running 100 watts from a TS-590SG to a 41ft. longwire antenna made necessary due to stringent HOA restrictions. I’m an enthusiastic non-competitive contester, DX chaser, and POTA activator/hunter.

@mcdanlj You have no reason to feel bad about requesting repeats of information. Everyone has been there and done that!
Activity in the #SKCC Straight Key Month activity seems to be down from previous years. I’ve worked K3Y/_ stations on all bands except for 80m, so it’s not a case of poor conditions. I’ll keep tuning.
@n8dmt @AF0AJ @evanboyar Mine is identical to the red paddled iambic. I also have the straight key in red.
@AF0AJ @evanboyar I use and am very happy with a portable iambic paddle from CWMorse.com
@N4JAW It’s very good to see you have returned. I hope to work you again soon.
@sq6poc I got this stand on Amazon.com. It’s called a Tonmom Laptop Stand. The incline angle and the width are both adjustable. It easily supports the Xiegu G90.
I managed to find time this morning for an overdue #POTA activation in the Pisgah National Forest, K-4510 here in North Carolina. I picked up 42 contacts (40 CW, 2 SSB). As good as conditions were, (particularly 20-10 meters), I was surprised that I made no contacts on 15 and 10m. I was hoping to work into Europe, but no luck today.
@N4JAW I experienced the same type of interference on my activation this past Monday. It was a different digital mode in my case, but equally intentional. It was slightly off of my frequency, so I was able to continue to work hunters and the QRMer eventually gave up.
@N4JAW @kelvin0mql As usual, you had a good signal into western NC. What rig were you on this morning?
@N4JAW Good deal.
@N4JAW Very nice. It puts out a very clean signal; sounded great. Thanks for the contact. I was on my FT-818 @ 6 watts.
@N4JAW @potaspots Just curious, what rig were you using today?
@N4JAW Thanks for the information. 2.5 hours on the 9 volt battery is excellent. I’m assuming your output is around 1 watt; is that correct?
