Having an offer from one company is a cheat code to getting interviews from others. Went from resume in trash to multiple "schedule a call" emails in my inbox immediately! So everybody wants in on the action now huh

@RosaCtrl I think I remember this one, it’s a boss fight where the boss teleports through the rooms in a circle right?

Slop greenfield open source projects are pretty much old hat at this point but now the new thing is sloplangs. People have some basic syntax ideas and get a LLM to throw together a parser & interpreter.

You ever think about how in programming all our parent/child tree relationships imply asexual reproduction

First day back at BJJ since slightly tearing my oblique a few weeks back. All the extra free weekday evenings have been nice but I've definitely missed it!

@tobinbaker "I would need to attach a justification for that salary increase" I mean it is on me for not having a counter-offer on hand

2026-02-23

I know recruiters intentionally use awkward silence and responses like "ok..." during salary negotiation as a tactic, but man it really does work on me lol. I guess they're pros who do this all day every day and I do it once every five years.

guy at BJJ class called me an “armbar merchant” and I have not recovered

@wingo sometimes I mix in a hyphen (not em-dash) for a bit of variety. Maybe even a : once in a while!

Anecdotally the tech job market is on a slight upswing, finally. After about a year without any worthwhile leads I've seen four since the new year. Far cry from the halcyon days of 2016-2022 where 3-5 recruiters were messaging per day, but I'll take it!

Six years after online video meetings took over the world, are there any good dedicated webcams or are people who care about image/audio quality still jury-rigging DSLRs?

kingfisher!

the kingfisher - a bird with beautiful blue grey plumage on top, a white breast with reddish brown detailing and a grey-blue "necklace", and a spiky hairdo - looks directly at the camera like its on the officeit looks down and to one side, probably hunting for fish. we get a great profile view of its sharp bill3/4 view with its beak open this timelooking down again, this time with the top of its head right towards the camera. its spiky head feathers are gently pointed directly upwards

@dev the birds certainly think it is
