@yahe wobei das (was ich als "Sorge" rauslese) bei ZigBee ganz nett gelöst is: Schalter und Lichter können als LightGroup gepaired werden. In dieser Konstellation agiert der Schalter neben der Bridge direkt mit den Lichtern. Dein restliches ZigBee Netzwerk kann dann tot sein und der Schalter würde trotzdem noch das Licht schalten können.

@yahe fang auch lieber nicht damit an; das macht süchtig. Bevor du dich versiehst hast du dann mehrere Home Assistent Dashboards mit Schaltern, Szenen und Graphen für Messwerte und du fängst an, Automatisierungen zu bauen.

@r_alb that generalization triggers me a litte: a general stance against progress is what fuels the fossil industry, for example... people who lean fully into "we don't need solar or e-mobility; all is good the way it is".

Of course not everything sold as progress is truly progress. I don't think pinning that decision on marketing works good, though.

@yahe trifft hier _vermutlich_ nicht zu. Congstar und Fraenk gehören beide zur Telekom und haben aus Gründen (ich nehme an geteilte Infrastruktur?) die gleiche Anbieterkennung. Daher, so die Aussage, geht keine direkte Portierung. Über Bande würde gehen (also erstmal zu irgendeinem anderen Provider und dann zu Fraenk).

@yahe vor zwei Wochen hat meine Frau von Congstar Postpaid auf Prepaid gewechselt. Auf der Website war der XS mit 5 GB, aber der Wechsel ging nur in den "alten" S mit 3 GB.... mal sehen ob das nach dem Monat jetzt auf die neuen Tarife zu wechseln geht. Schon wild. (Dass nach wie vor keine Rufnummermitnahme von Congstar zu Fraenk geht, nervt mich aber mehr.)

@simon_brooke @kagihq the LLM integrations are all optional. A normal search doesn't involve any LLM generated stuff at all. You have to actively invoke the summarizer or assistant if you want it (the summarizer and the quick answers are actually quite good; every point they add is backed by a reference to the source). Translate obviously also uses LLMs, but I think that is hardly a problem... stuff like that is what LLMs were made for (and again: you don't have to use Translate at all).

@jawnsy @Daojoan and it's not like you live for free then. You still pay taxes, electricity, water, trash disposal, etc and you can't just assume that nothing will ever break, so you have to make sure you are able to cover repairs when (not if) the need arises.

@mrotteveel @quixoticgeek there was a bad time when several apps went in that direction. I remember LibreOffice and Inkscape. In LO I could at least change the theme back to one with colors _and_ shapes. But Inkscape had only the one monochromatic one for quite a while. My brain needs colors, shapes and context (so I can narrow down the position I expect something in). If apps mess with that, I become unproductive and then pissed.

@bagder Maybe vulnerabilities should be handled as bets. The reporter puts as much money in the pot as he thinks it is worth it. If the report isn't handled, he gets his money back. If the report is handled and considered valid, they get it back double. If the report is handled but considered bullshit, the money is kept as compensation for wasted time.

@yahe ja, dann klingt deine Einschätzung plausibel. Die eigentliche Ausgabe erfolgt ja dann idR über die iGPU und das Spiel wird via dGPU-offloading gerendert. Wenn die dGPU abschmiert würde da also gut ins Bild passen, dass dann das Spiel einfriert, aber das OS noch lowlevel Kram wie den Mauszeiger rendert (was ja über die iGPU geht).
Da Windows ja auch Treiber via Windows Update aktualisiert, könnte noch versucht werden, auf einen neuen oder älteren Treiber des Herstellers zu wechseln.
