Ai Ai Ai, ik heb Graph Tech ukelele stemmechanieken op de resonans snaren van de Esraj gezet. Het was een heel werk, kleine schroefjes en zo, en het is goed gelukt. Dit maakt zo veel uit. En zonder de balans van het instrument te verstoren. Ik kan zo veel preciezer stemmen nu. Magisch! Nu weer door met de ryaaz. Ik werd gek van het voortdurende stemmen tijdens het spelen. Ik ga de mechanieken van de speelsnaren ook vervangen.

This morning I got woken by an emergency alert. The building my hackerspace @pixelbar is in, was on fire. Soon after the news reached that building was not savable.

Keilewerf 1 in Rotterdam and all spaces inside are gone. These included Hobbyists, companies and our hackerspace.

Pixelbar will need to find a new space and equipment and has started a crowdfunding.

This means that trans people who are stealth or under-the-radar would be constantly outed by their documents.

No peaceful life, no quietly staying off the radar while being cis-passing, the Republicans want to make life as difficult as possible for as many trans people as possible.

This stuff is going to make its way through the courts, so definitely not a red alert.

What it does point at is where Republicans would like things to end up for trans people. Not just no new ability to change documents (which is bad enough), but even those of us who made document changes long ago when it was legal having to go back to having a wrong marker on our drivers' licenses.

Here is a statement from Kolektiva regarding Facebook ("Meta") soon launching a new app ("Threads" or "Project92") which will reportedly use ActivityPub and interoperate or federate with parts of the Fediverse.

Kolektiva was founded as a direct result of anarchist and antifascist projects being kicked off of Facebook in 2020. Our entire "raison d'etre" is to provide an independent autonomous alternative to corporate social media. We exist in opposition to Facebook and their ilk. We have no interest in federating with a network operated and controlled by Meta, even if it becomes technically possible.

Meta has shown its values and actions are not just incompatible with our world view but openly hostile towards it. Whereas we create a world based on mutual aid and voluntary cooperation Meta necessitates conflict and systems of domination in order to profit.

Kolektiva.social will not federate with whatever Meta's future presence on the Fediverse looks like. We will continue to strive towards a larger, more decentralized and anarchist Fediverse. We choose our autonomy and trust in the social experiment / counter culture we are co-creating with others who do not wield such abhorrent systems of power over us.

Meta is looking to implement post importing. That's been a feature request since forever (see https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/177 and https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/12423 ).

These are things that if meta implements them and does even a halfway decent job then #meta controls the standard.

Want to prevent that?

Get there first or at least have a strong offering on how to do these things out of the gate. Let _us_ as a community control the standards that we use.
