@morten_skaaning This is fixed now! Thanks again for the bug report.

It turned out this could happen if the enemy respawned directly on top of the ball. I already had a physics clearance check in place to prevent this exact issue, but it wasn't working when the ball was on a rail (since this moves the ball to a different physics layer). This gap is now patched! ๐Ÿ˜„

Releasing a patch on console is scary... It's a whole process, so if I accidentally break something it'd take some time to get it fixed. I try to do plenty of testing but there's always a chance I'll miss something. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

In addition to the changes listed on Steam, the patch fixes this previously-reported Switch-specific slowdown issue:

Pinball Spire patch 1.02.02 is out on #Switch! This patch adds a New Game+ feature and a number of other fixes and improvements. It also brings the Switch version up to date with the PC version, so you can refer to the patch notes on Steam:

@skc Hahaha... That's amazing! What are the odds. ๐Ÿคฃ I need to figure out how to get my game out to all the Scott Clark's out there!

Huge thanks to Scott Clark over at The Gaming Outsider for a wonderful review of Pinball Spire on Switch! ๐Ÿฅฐ

"Pinball Spireโ€˜s only real downfall for me is that there isnโ€™t more of it for me to play. The fact that Iโ€™ve played through this game twice now on two different platforms is a testament to its quality."

@MarcRnt Awesome, thank you!

2025-06-06

@hardpenguin13 Yeah, I agree! Part of the appeal of making Pinball Spire was the chance to explore a genre with so much untapped potential.

Pinball Spire confirmed to run great on the #Switch2! So after you get tired of Mario Kart World, maybe check out my game? ๐Ÿ˜œ

@AgateDragon Haha... sensible choice

2025-06-01

@AgateDragon Yeah, I heard about the store improvements too. I hope it'll surface more games! I also hope it'll run smoother because the old Switch store is painfully slow. ๐Ÿ˜†

@erin_catto @morten_skaaning Thanks, Erin! That's really cool. Thank you for all your hard work on this framework!

2025-06-01

@erin_catto @morten_skaaning I think the particular issue Morten found here is actually caused by a rigidbody pushing another rigidbody through an edge wall. That's entirely my fault and I'll need to tweak the design to prevent this. ๐Ÿ˜…

Really appreciate the help from you guys!

2025-06-01

@erin_catto @morten_skaaning I can't believe I'm getting help from the developer of Box2D. It's like meeting a celebrity! ๐Ÿ˜

I'm using Unity so most of the physics implementation details are hidden from me, but as far as I can tell Unity exposes Box2D's "bullet" option as the "Continuous" collision detection mode:

docs.unity3d.com/6000.1/Docume

I do have this enabled already and I believe it's indeed working reliably!

@morten_skaaning Yeah... Definitely looks like the enemy could push on the ball here. Whoops. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Thanks for the help!
