A desperate attempt to image something because it is a clear night. Not the best targets (M97-M108) considering the moon is nearby. Guiding is working beautifully. Let’s see what I can get here tonight.
@curiousgawker yep! Hillary’s emails and Kamala's laughter…

If you use generative AI, that is theft.
"Somebody has to do something, and it’s just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us."
-- Jerry Garcia (1942-1995)
A new space race could turn our atmosphere into a ‘crematorium for satellites’
"Last month, SpaceX applied … for permission to launch one million more satellites for untested “AI data centres”."
"sheer number isn’t the only issue. SpaceX’s … planned V3 satellites are … comparable in scale to a Boeing 737 …"
"Rocket launches already contribute to climate change and ozone depletion. Scaling them up to deploy a million aircraft-sized satellites would push upper-atmosphere heating and ozone loss far beyond previous estimates, with the steady burn-up of dead satellites compounding the impacts."
Reviewing some old links before deleting my Twitter account I was reminded of "Civil disobedience in scientific authorship: Resistance and insubordination in science" (https://doi.org/10.1080/08989621.2020.1756787) which contains a great table on deciding authorship order:

The blizzard of Feb 23, 2026.
Went for a hike (https://strava.app.link/wJys7bS4X0b) with my daughter at the Jewett preserve of Lyme Land Trust (https://www.lymelandtrust.org/). There was a lot of snow on the trails - more than expected. Saw many mushrooms along the trail. Also learned something new from my daughter about the bark and leaf diseases that are killing all American Beech trees. Hope these trees figure out a way to survive this blight. The sun came out towards the end making it nice.
New parent classes go on about breastfeeding and growth. All important stuff. But there's one huge parenting thing that they all leave out:
Throwing stuff away.
Children generate and accumulate so much crap. So, so much.
And as parents we're wracked with such guilt throwing any of it away - whether it's a finger drawing from nursery or a crappy Happy Meal toy.
Teach us to throw stuff away and you'll change our lives.
After listening to Bad Bunny and other new music for a couple of weeks, switching back to Grateful Dead today. Aaahhh! Feels so good!!!
In the Epstein saga, all the child molesting predator men are not facing any consequences and walking scot-free. The only person serving a jail sentence is a woman. Yes, she did horrible things but so did all these men.
May Lent bring you as much patience as whoever is working Bedford council's social media
@Natasha_Jay LOVE IT!!!
Yesterday (Feb 17) I received a piece of mail that had a postmark of Jan 22 and it was mailed from the same town I live in. How can it take 26 days to travel just a few miles? What is going on with USPS?
"Indigenous teen Keeya Wiki kayaked the entire Klamath River. It’s just the beginning"
"Ashland High School student Keeya Wiki kayaked 310 miles on the Klamath River last summer ...
The historic first descent of the newly undammed Klamath River by Indigenous teens captured the world’s attention and launched Keeya into the spotlight."

@BobReflected Wikipedia told me that the Heart nebula is about 500 light years across. Our galaxy has a big heart! 😁
