It's an hour and a half past my daughter's bedtime. I sit in her bedroom doorway, reading a book and gently restraining her as she tries to crawl through my legs. Eventually she gives up, retreats to her room, and closes the door--forcefully dislodging me from my perch as she does.
"Finally, she's given up-"
The door suddenly opens and she darts out through the space I had been. Having gained the hallway, she jumps and dances with joy. It's infectious. I smile.
