Don’t make your instance owner have to beg you to help them keep the service you are using running.
That includes all of the Fedi services you use. Mastodon, Pixelfed, PeerTube, Lemmy, etc..
Every little bit helps. If you can only give $2 a month, then that’s $2 more they can use to help provide the service to those who can’t even afford $2 a month.
If this is truly “the people‘s social media“ then we should all do our part to make sure that it isn't a burden to those that provide it for us
Embrace failure and learn from your mistakes.
Happy to announce that I was able to migrate diasp.in XMPP service from its old server to durare.org's server, as mentioned at https://social.masto.host/@praveen/113813997299957323
I have shared my experience on what went behind the curtains during the migration show at - https://codema.in/d/INuZUkAc/diasp-in-xmpp-migrated-to-durare-org-s-server
I hope it inspires more people to volunteer and support XMPP community.

The invoice for Durare (and soon the home of Disap.IN) server for Dec 2024 is available - € 8.27 (~ ₹740). Since this is a volunteer-run public service, it would be really helpful if you could help us maintain it. You can do so by either sponsoring this expense or a part of it, or you can also volunteer for various tasks listed at - https://gitlab.com/piratemovin/diasp.in/-/issues
The following methods can be used to sponsor the payment:
@cyrus oh no. But if it has a browser, and a file manager, then sideloading shouldn't be difficult. There are guides for HiSense TVs. Is it because of Vidaa OS?
@cyrus can you install Kodi (+youtube plugin i think) on your TV through the browser? And install Kore and NewPipe on your phone. Then you can cast Through NewPipe on phone to Kodi on TV.
@badri Nice!
Yeah, it is difficult to find them in stores, and even if you did, you might not able to try them. But, I hope you do. Good luck!
I am not an emoji guy, so don't worry! Hahaha... Let's go to Japan, I know places where you would need a shopping cart for buying stationeries! :)
@maia
I am interested!

There are some good ones there, especially the metallic ones. I had one which someone stole I believe, I think it was Graphgear. Rotring and Staedtler are good too.
Let me know which one you get!
