I was invited to design a “koi nobori” (carp streamer) to be displayed at Tokyo Midtown this year for Children’s Day. This koinobori uses my yet to be released typeface Louvette Pixel set hiragana, katakana, kanji, and the latin script. The design is focused on specificity of time and place. Particularly Japan’s 19th microseason in early May and it’s seasonal flower (藤 wisteria), fish (金目鯛 kinmedai ), vegetable(人参 carrot), and event (端午の節句Children’s Day). I made stickers for my typeface Velzyland and I’m so happy with how they turned out. Velzyland includes a COLRv1 color variable font so all of the color gradients, depth and highlights you see here are built in to the font itself, along with other color pallets and variable depth and highlight axes. The artist's first solo exhibition will begin at "K052 TAKAO" commercial/cultural facility in front of Takao Station, with works that cut out a unique perspective of Takao's nature using film cameras.
Planner comments:
I originally got the impression of a serious young man. Talking about the exhibition, I thought they were practicing capturing things from the front. I'm really excited to hear that there will be an exhibition of works containing grated photos in Takao. (Takao Brewery Ikeda)
Takayama's comment on the exhibit:
In addition to themes such as "existence" and
"happiness" in our normal activities, this time we are focusing on "growth and maturity" of humans and plants.

25歳の写真家、高山力士。
フィルムカメラを用いて高尾の自然を独自の視点で切り取った作品を筆頭に、作家自身初となる個展が高尾駅前の商業／文化施設「KO52 TAKAO」にて始まります。

真面目な青年という印象がもともとありました。展示について話をしていると、ものごとを正面から捉えることを実践しているんだなと思いました。高尾での撮りおろしを含んだ作品の展示と聞いて、いまからワクワクしています。
