I swear (and did swear, a lot) that splash screen feature that was merged into #inkscape last October is one the most cursed things ever merged into Inkscape.

A feature introduced by an outside contributor in a point release (bad), had to be re-written because it was so broken (very bad), even then forced the 1.4.1 release to be withdrawn (extremely bad) and even now crashes macOS 1.4.2 if you open a file with the inkscape binary.

I'm not going to push for 1.4.2 to be withdrawn. But I'm upset.
