#CovidIsntOver so mask up!

But now I'm really mad? So I think I might turn on VoiceOver (which I need to learn, anyway) and unplug my mouse again.
I was all like, "hey, I left my mouse in the other room, maybe I'll spend a day navigating by keyboard, because that will be educational."
And then I learned that Outlook requires memorizing some keyboard shortcuts (not great), and Vivaldi stores tabs in the order they were opened (or something), NOT the order in which they're displayed.
So I went and got my mouse.
@platypus someone named their bird after you! (sort of) https://www.reddit.com/r/PartyParrot/comments/1lelfd7/its_tillmans_sixth_hatchday_today/
I'm having a lot of Feelings while attending the OCUL Accessibility Symposium. Accessibility metadata, accessibility icons in Databases A-Z, openly speaking about diverse and inclusive hiring! This was (some) US libraries, not that long ago.
Canadians, be proud of what you have, and fight like hell to keep it.
@adr I'm mystified by the idea that we need to "learn AI or be left behind," or whatever. It's … easy? We don't? need? special? librarians? for it?
@ai6yr nuance: I'm in favor, but concrete or steel barriers are much better.
Is anyone else at the OCUL Accessibility Forum? (It's online and free, and the schedule is 🔥)
A couple of tips you're welcome to borrow if you're evaluating a potential library position, as an applicant (harder in the US now):
* Do DEI(A) goals show up in the strategic plan or is it just a toothless committee?
* (is there even an "A"?)
* (can you find their strategic plan at all?)
* does their front page pass a basic a11y check? WAVE, at least?
* Are they still linking to the Firstsearch version of WorldCat (yellow flag)
* from their front page? (red flag)
Not my best title, but accurate: "Eating food in the US in 2025 while immunocompromised" https://www.sheldon-hess.org/coral/2025/05/us-food-safety/

Team OSHA is on this #monsterdon thing. :wild applause:
(I'm not even sure what y'all are watching, but I enjoy seeing random commentary in the hashtag each week.)
Hey, does anyone have a really good "course guide" template or example you'd be willing to share?
"Good," here, means it is accessible; has a limited number of pages; has no time-wasting "welcome to my guide" text; is somewhat focused/task-based; and could be used as a teaching tool (or at least a jumping-off point) in lieu of slides.
Boosts welcome. Guides that only meet part of the list also welcome. I will only have kind things to say, promise.
Hey, library folks, I've got a weird one for you (repeated from C4L Slack for reach)!
We don't have subject liaisons. So maintaining lovingly hand-crafted subject guides is maybe not top of mind for everyone. So they're not well maintained.
But Springshare also creates these automatic pages for each subject in the system, with all the databases (Best Bets on top), plus all the guides (e.g. course guides), in that subject.
Besides URI, does anyone use those *instead of* subject guides?

Phoebe and Hermann (blue budgie) both pluck the cage bars musically, but it’s hard to get video. Here’s Phoebe doing it once in the play cage.
💙💚
Got ‘em!!!!
We are trying to lure the budgies into their travel cage with millet (a high-value treat), plus their normal food and water. They keep taking turns going in there, smart little goblins
If Sandy Berman wrote me a letter like that I would resign in disgrace.
