@ayeshachari thank you! Good to have the confirmation. Yes, sounds like it happened in a few stages.
@RealSolo thanks!
The Home feed here has really slowed down over the past month!
Hope to see all the lovely people I followed back on here regularly :)
@blindscribe there's definitely many who would be interested in this one!

#Editors question:
When did the Dominion of Ceylon become Sri Lanka? Even Wikipedia is not really clear - they did independence first, but they changed the name later.
Does anyone know the year of Ceylon becoming Sri Lanka? Was it 1972?

Let me know on Twitter, that is...

Dear #indexers of #indexodon - since we don't have private DMs on Mastodon (or Post!) yet, or private groups -
I just tested out the idea of the Twitter Circle on Twitter - just a very small place for specifically Canadian indexers. Let me know if you saw the tweet. I've only put a few in because I only know a few of you on Twitter (it's for me having Canadian questions about the business, etc.)
Twitter Circles are private to those the owner put in the circle, no one else sees the replies.
@jordankettner just curious - what does having your own server (with your name) do/ what are the advantages?
e.g., is it one you want others to join (I'm guessing not, if it's your name) - ?
Just wanting to learn
So, I'm finding out the hard way that if you start a new Mastodon server, nobody can find you.
This is a shameless request for some boosts so some of the bigger instances see me.

@toddo sounds like a pretty sweet setup you have down there quite the same!
Would be hard to live elsewhere after that ;)
@toddo would be realllly slow then...
in this case the person had migrated from another server, but still - I'm following their current server and they are posting from there, and I see th e posts in the home feed, just not on their profile...
Why are some peoples' profiles showing up blank (no posts) - but you follow them and you can see them posting - the posts just aren't visible on their profile?
How does that happen?
Might be moving into Information Ethics.
What's happening with the increase in production, storage, sharing, use & requests for "information" is really something, and to preserve humanity we need to fight back against much of it.
Not everything needs to be turned into a piece of information. And not all information is everyone's prerogative.
These are questions that come prior even to issues of privacy.
Information is a commodification of direct experience. It's not = to knowledge.
