New Mozilla TOS diff. This is what they just removed:

* Does Firefox sell your personal data?

> Nope. Never have, never will. And we protect you from many of the advertisers who do. Firefox products are designed to protect your privacy. That’s a promise.

The purpose of the new TOS appears to be to enable them to do this - such as for their advertising and AI sidelines.

Text removed in Mozilla TOS update:

            {
                "@type": "Question",
                "name": "Does Firefox sell your personal data?",
                "acceptedAnswer": {
                    "@type": "Answer",
                    "text": "Nope. Never have, never will. And we protect you from many of the advertisers who do. Firefox products are designed to protect your privacy. That’s a promise. "

@futurebird One of the many fascinating things about the placebo effect. My favourite four are:

  • Placebos (and maybe real medicines) work better if someone gives them to you.
  • They work even better if that person is wearing a lab coat.
  • Placebos seem to work as well even if the recipient is told it’s a placebo.
  • [My absolute favourite] the placebo effect has increased over the last few decades in the USA (thought to be related to drug advertising but not proven) to a degree that a lot of older medicines were approved in clinical trials that, if conducted today, would not place them above a placebo in efficacy (maybe. They’d probably get the same boost as the placebo, but it’s a fun thought).

Humans are weird.

Decided to take a jab here to hunt down a job as well, so here it goes. I am a recent graduate (major in computer security) looking for an entry-level (intern/junior) position to get some industry experience and training under my belt.

I am looking for either:

  • system management oriented roles like tech support, DevOps, SRE and so on
  • security operations roles (SoCs or blue team roles)

I am based in Sri Lanka and the offer has to be in Sri Lanka or a remote one. But, I am open for any interesting offers and discussion. You can know more about me here: comradelab.win/about/

Thanks for the read and have a nice day :)

Kevin McCarthy: America Didn't Build Rockets Until Elon Musk Arrived

What the everloving F...

Project Mercury started more than 10 years before Musk was born. Telstar, the first communications satellite was 9 years before Musk was born. NASA landed men on the moon two years before Musk was born.

Are you on drugs, McCarthy? All these were US rockets lifting US projects up into space.

Methane is 80x as potent a greenhouse gas as CO2; failing to curtail it's release is a suicide pact. ALSO, the CBO has estimated that if this law is overturned it will cost the federal government $7B. Like the GOP, it is environmentally AND fiscally irresponsible. thehill.com/policy/energy-envi

Jacob Manser: I've been a proud Trump supporter for three elections, and now my business just got cut off from our Federal contract. This is BULL. We're not some DEl quota filler we do real, hard work. We need to get in touch with someone ASAP to fix this mess. Like and share so the right people see this!

@drahardja @VeroniqueB99 Thrift stores are treasure troves of usable goods. You can usually find name brand stuff, at a deep discount, as well as funky stuff that you wouldn't've thought of. The manufacturers get nothing, and many trhift stores are affiliated with charities. The more you buy from thrift stores, the less goes to the landfill.
You can boycott retailers and still get stuff.

@meganmariehart @drahardja yes! One day doesn’t do anything significant, maybe not even anything measurable.

But like they say, the best way to eat an elephant(?) is… one bite at a time.

Every marathon/triathlon is tackled by taking the FIRST STEP. Just one at a time.

Just keep swimming, Dory.

@drahardja

Just start with Friday.

It's not a boycott. It’s about rallying people. Just like one person with a sign in their hands in front of a Tesla store is a meme, and a couple of hundred is news. A dent in the statistics on one single day might mean nothing to the companies, but if we generate enough visibility for the idea, we can take it further from there.

#Trump is gonna sell green cards + for ~ 5 million dollars so oligarchs can buy their ways more easily into the US

He's running the US like a Mar-a-Shit, selling membership like a country club

Even if they gave me 5 million, I wouldn't wanna be become an American :blobfoxdrakedislike: sorry not sorry

We have lost one of the true giants of the screen. Gene Hackman could play anyone, and you could feel a whole life behind it. He could be everyone and no one, a towering presence or an everyday Joe. That’s how powerful an actor he was. He will be missed, but his work will live on forever.
