Today, those shitass "AI" summaries started showing up in my Google searches
Today, I switched to Ecosia
In the near future, I will be deleting my Google account, and using EU's right to forget to purge all my data from Google

@tbodt Man, I hate Apple (and all other US companies)
@nerius I was thinking the exact same thing 😖
@iamkonstantin I was just as skeptical as you, I just wanted to make sure I was not just crazy or paranoid :blobfox_explode:
@iamkonstantin I was very confused about it as well, here’s some more info: https://mstdn.social/@davidbures/114539658363699957
@mattiem I agree, I got weird vibes from the pitch. The same feeling I got when people were trying to get me into bitcoin a few years back. Promises of a great product with little monetization strategy, just a promise that it will be good eventually
@mattiem I was a bit confused about it as well. I asked about what exactly their product is and got a pretty generic response, that it’s supposed to connect contributors with interesting repositories. A potential contributor signs up, fills out some info about what languages they use, and they will get connected to repos they can contribute to
There was also some AI pitch about scanning PRs to make sure they’re not made by AI, but I don’t believe that can ever work
I just got off a call with Jean-Baptiste Henry from https://www.onlydust.com. They want to feature Cork as a repo in their "introductory hackathon" next week
Should Cork go through with it? What do you think?
I asked some questions relating to the prohibition of using Cork's source code to train AI models (approved) and their monetisation strategy (no strategy right now, they "want to see if the idea works out first")

I will never forget how I was preparing for a physics exam in high school by studying MIT lectures on the topic
The moment I started talking, the teacher said “I don’t care that you got this from MIT, you didn’t follow the book. Sit down, you won’t get to university, anyway” and gave me an F
@danielsaidi “Good morning!”
*pant shitting gesture*
“We have some great news here at Apple, and we think you’re gonna love them”
*pause*
“I’m out, good luck lol”
@mattiem Yeah, you're right, capturing it worked, thank you!
As for the isolation, that method is the only `@MainActor`-annotated one (because it was the only one giving an error related to actors :catroll: )
One more thing, along the macOS 14 update, the bundle identifier of Cork will change from `com.davidbures.cork` to `eu.davidbures.cork`
@melgu It's a Substack site on my domain, so it's a Substack issue
The results are clear, and I'd like to give every Cork user a heads-up: The next Cork version, which will hopefully include the improved package version selecting, will be the last actively-developed version for macOS. After that, macOS 14 will be the oldest actively developer-for version
I'd recommend that everyone read this article about this I wrote last year: https://blog.corkmac.app/p/what-will-happen-when-cork-drops
And don't panic!

@ilyess I do
@rodionovd I work with English 90% of my waking hours, so I want to get away from it at least on my computer 🥲
@rodionovd I know the pain, I was doing translations for Microsoft and Apple a few years back, and you get no context. I get it for Microsoft (where most of the work was just MTPE), but it’s shameful for Apple
