Today’s Exhibition Tour with Pippin Barr and Csongor Baranyai🌱
A quick sneak peak behind the scenes of our “Amaze 2025” exhibition🌱🎨
Finally, we are happy to share more information about our new event, which wiil be a part of the "Amaze 2025" festival in Berlin!
Our next exhibition is a step inside the development process of the games in the It is as if... series by Pippin Barr.
And here is how Pippin describes the event in his own words:
"The exhibition pulls together prototypes, sketches, design journals, and more to reveal the in-between moments of game design. Find out why Pippin switched to a Windows 95 look and feel for It is as if you were doing work or how he decided to cut zen gongs from It is if you were on your phone. Draw your own conclusions and even branch off and think up your own versions of the games.
Looking at games and game development from the perspective of Devolution lets the visitors discover new and inspiring aspects of how games are growing into shape and what this means for game design and development and digital media in general. In contrast to the usual reception of the finished end result, Devolution lets you travel the whole long road of design and development, providing valuable insights to the visitors."
We hope to see you all soon at the Amaze 2025!

We all know that great game design is about the feel, the balance, and the player’s journey. This interview with Billy Basso, developer of the indie hit "Animal Well", demonstrates how all these details come together to create an amazing game!👾
What do you think about the interview? We’d love to hear your thoughts!🌱

Let's get into the week with the incredible energy of ApeOut!
Let's relive the journey of Devolution #5 – Exploring the Roads to Creation!
At Devolution #5, we brought together the development journeys of three incredible games—Kingdom, Ape Out, and Hidden Folks! This unique exhibition invited visitors to step into the world of game development, exploring the creative processes and technical challenges that shape games into the final experiences we know and love.
The exhibition showcased the development timelines of these games, offering a deep dive into their evolution. Visitors had the opportunity to play early prototypes, view design documents, and explore the intricate processes behind their creation. Each timeline highlighted the struggles, breakthroughs, and design decisions that made these games stand out, presenting development not as a linear path, but as a winding, iterative journey.
Developing "In etwa Rotkäppchen" with my children was simply a unique and fantastic experience! Watching them work with the idea. Brainstorming together. Watching them learn and use technology. Being inspired by each other. Finding the right balance between work and play (not always).
I don't want to miss our journey ever again. Thanks Dalma! Thanks Cosima!
