A new update from #gotpapers

It turns out that we forgot to put online some of the #C64 #papermags that AVH/Radwar generously provided to us back in 2019. And what a treasure trove this is! A completely lost issue of CCCP (#3), a better scan of another CCCP issue (#9), and a whole bunch of Illegal issues that had been preserved only as type-ups before. Now you can enjoy the real scans, featuring lots of graphics and the famous Cracker Map of 1988! gotpapers.scene.org/?p=4242 #demoscene

New activity on the Amiga #BBS modding front: Up Rough just launched its /x doors/tools division with a first release. demozoo.org/productions/385740/ #amiga #bbs #amiexpress

@esaruoho yes absolutely! you can upload them as text ads to the bbs entry yourself, or send them to me. are you on our discord server?

As a follow-up to my previous post: Did you know that since a few weeks, it is possible to comment on #BBS entries on demozoo.org? Get yourself a SceneID account, log in, and share your memories of your old favourite boards - or maybe even your own, if you were a #sysop ! Try it out, like here: demozoo.org/bbs/3/ (scroll all the way down to the comment field!)

@uctumi That's the fault of Argentina's regional code system - we can't deduct the exact locations of boards from the telephone number alone... (same situation with France and Denmark, for example). So if you know any way to localize some more boards here, your help would be more than welcome!

@3rz Here's a list with BBS-related tags: demozoo.org/pages/bbs-related-

@3rz It's relatively easy - make yourself a Demozoo account and then add via this link - demozoo.org/bbs/new/ - once the basic entry is there, you can add more details, affils, tags etc.

@dirkdierickx that's really cool! do you still happen to have a backup of the filebase?

Through this map, you can also navigate our BBS archive at demozoo, encompassing over 12.000(!) scene-related BBSs, complete with sysop info, affils, bbstros and mentions in other productions such as diskmags, etc.!

Did you know that Gargaj made a scene BBS world map based on demozoo.org data? It's awesome to see how this decentralized network(s) spread over wide parts of the globe back in the 1980s and 1990s, to areas where we would not even assume scene activity: conspiracy.hu/minisites/demozo

Enjoy the Sunday while browsing demoparty-related materials: flyers, wristbands, votekeys, posters etc. from over three decades! The oldest object is from 1992, the latest is just one day old (from Mountainbytes in Switzerland which took place this weekend). Contributions this time stem from Cthulhu, Dipswitch, JAL, and Moon. A particularly special document is the internal organiser info sheet from Takeover 1999 & 2000 (in Dutch).

@greg76 amazing! I remember both the intro and the BBS very well (even though I could never call the latter).

19 more bbs ads, this time exclusively from 1993, added to demozoo & defacto2 - see defacto2.net/file/list?output=

Not only are we back, but we also have exciting news: HBH, a Norwegian C64 scener active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, sent us a full box of letters and flyers. The treasure trove is currently being scanned and will start appearing here very soon. Here’s a sneak peek: Brainstorm, a small C64/Amiga paper zine published in 1988 by the Dutch C64 group Fire-Eagle. Only an advert demo for it has survived, the mag itself was considered lost. gotpapers.scene.org/?p=4062
