Finished implementing a very simple line editor for DX-BBS. Sure, there's much room for improvement but at least the core functionality is now in there and works.

COMMISSIONS are OPEN

I haven't felt satisfied with any of the current BBS client software that I could use on my MacOS. Even though I adore #icy_tools it's not there yet in core features I'm looking after.

So.. I just created a telnet client focused on the core BBS supporting features and it works. renders fine in CP-437 and UTF and ASCII as #tui app for macos terminals.

That works smoothly after a single day of development!

Next milestone is to enforce 80x25 rendering and x/y/zmodem functionality with file browsers and batch upload/download features.

When that's done I'll only be thinking about expanding to SSH connection and... scripting platform so I can automatize ze thingz and record macros. and extend UI by my own scripts.

Should be nice to create something like old fashioned MUD interfaces for various text mode games BBSes offer as an aide/cheat perhaps... who knows.

Having the whole terminal client under control brings interesting possibilities to the whole concept.

I was just a consumer of BBSes.. now I'm becoming a client experience hacker! Ha!

Whole thing not yet ready to be published but as I did with `tunerider` this one eventually becomes public as well.

Ich habe dann doch tatsächlich die von mir veranschlagte Zeit von fast einer Woche gebraucht, um das BBS fertig einzurichten.

In den nächsten Wochen kommen noch weitere Echomail-Netze hinzu, aber ansonsten läuft es rund und ist über bbs.mv2k.com, Port 23 (Telnet) zu erreichen. 😀

With @interlisp Medley Interlisp I'm BBSing like it's 1985. The center window is a terminal emulator with a Telnet session connected to the RC-BOX BBS by @Wintermute_BBS running on a @rc2014 Z80 system. The shell with Telnet as well as Medley Interlisp run on Linux.
