Secretary General @dot Trossen joined the #6G-XR Impact Day to discuss immersive 5G/6G connectivity and its role across industries.
The event marks 3 years of EU-funded R&D in extended reality (XR) through the 6G-XR project, building experimental platforms across Finland 🇫🇮 and Spain 🇪🇸 to test future 6G applications like holography and digital twins.

@DejahEntendu @bookstodon read #1984 in, well, 1984, as a 15 year old. My father gave it to me when I was long into computer already. #1984 is often cited when it comes to gov power but Orwell got the surveillance so wrong in other ways. We do not have hidden devices behind screens but willingly place them into our home (looking at you, Alexa), use them every day for our "free" Internet in return. Surveillance capitalism, much worse then what Orwell describes and entirely overlooked by him.

@interpeer would love to see more of this localised, p2p thinking. Hang on, wasn't that part of the Internet thinking? Where has it gone? The point of introducing intermediaries is that it's often easier to collude at scale with them instead of colluding all endpoints.

Yes, indeed, the ROSA draft had several video related use cases, utilising the anycast capabilities of ROSA, even for highly dynamic selections (eg. per chunk request). Working on a demo...

The Google virus, in the form of its playstore and services, has again hit: its "privacy feature" of removing permissions of unused apps has just removed again permissions from 7 apps. One is the calendar, which I use daily, and two other frequently used apps. No Google app, of course, since one needs to protect one's own apps. #googlefail

@jens ah, got it. No problem with 2022 for me (20 year anniversary) at a personal level, which is the only thing I can really impact. Won't get hung up on not liking years for externalities.

@jens good luck with the pacing. I recall my first Romanian new year's eve about 20 years ago, leaning heavily into the first table setting of the evening, enjoying all immensely, only to be told that's it read just the starter 🤔 Regardless, I've always enjoyed the being together, so learned the food pacing eventually.
