@osuosl provides hosting to the QEMU project and many others. What they do: free hosting for open source projects, not tied to a commercial product/service, and students gain experience by working there. They are unique and worth supporting!

We have finally retired the old installer image, and replaced it with the new live image. So now you can actually test GNOME OS before you install it. Get it at os.gnome.org/

I feel like moderation issues are a lot like CVEs.

Do we expect an established FOSS project to have a working process for CVEs? Yes, absolutely. You can not really rely on a project without one.

Do we have to punish any volunteer-driven FOSS project for not having/following a CVE process and not being able to address it immediately when you ask for it? No.

We should give space for "not that mature" FOSS projects, and let them learn and develop the missing policies and workflows.

By the way, I still think this paragraph I wrote is a pretty good paragraph.

My statements above are about code. I believe code is a uniquely dangerous deployment site for "AI", because in programming, the most dangerous thing is code which is almost correct. The human brain has a significant tendency toward seeing what it expects to see and a person can sometimes look directly at something that's mostly correct but wrong without noticing it. However, creating this almost correct code is exactly what "AI" is best at. The purpose of the content generators people now call "AI" is to create something which can plausibly fool a human into believing they are looking at a real picture, real paragraph of text, or real computer program code. So Copilot might as well be designed to generate bugs a human cannot catch.

Need Bassist & Drummer to Form Conservative Rage Against The Machine (Kannapolis, NC)
Looking for politically conservative bassist & drummer to start the right's version of Rage Against The Machine. I plan on singing, playing guitar and writing a lot of rage-type songs and would like to tour the area opening up for political events. Also would like to have a set list of freedom oriented cover songs. If you love America and are pissed about what the left and globalists have done to our country, please contact me.

I will never understand the fear of “overreacting” to Nazism. You’re worried about being too alert to genocidal ideology? That’s like worrying the fire alarm is being rude to the flames.

Hiring for Flatpak Automation

The desktop team in Red Hat has another open position. We’re looking for someone to work on Flatpak automation, for someone who enjoys working on infrastructure. Although the job description states 2+ years of experience, it’s suitable for juniors. Formal experience can be replaced by relevant open source contributions. Being onsite in Brno, Czech Republic is preferred, but not required. We’re open to hiring good candidates elsewhere, too.

If you’d like to know more about the job before formally applying, don’t hesitate to contact me on Mastodon, Signal, Matrix (@eischmann at fedora.im), or email.
