Hi, I’m Francesca, Italian and British but really a citizen of the world. Currently Senior Legal Advisor at the European Center For Not-For-Profit Law (ECNL). Former Fellow of the Center for Media, Data and Society at CEU, now Fellow at Media and Journalism Research Center (MJRC). My focus is on impact of digital tech and policies on civic and political rights. My working languages are Italian, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. I’m a reluctant jogger but I love trekking and kayaking.
Our position remains clear. We will not back down on providing private, safe communications. We join with other encrypted messengers pushing back on the UK's flawed Online Safety Bill.
In a nutshell: the players would be the arbiters and decide whether the rules apply to themselves. What kind of JOKE is this? Doesn't make me laugh. #EU #AIA #artificialintelligence

Excluding #nationalsecurity, defence & transnational law enforcement from the EU #AIAct would undermine safeguards for #AI use broadly & make it largely digital rights-free zone.

EU countries want to create a rights-free zone for AI in national security by exempting these uses from the new AI Act. Effect: safeguards, eg. related to mass biometric surveillance, will not apply. Results of our poll in 12 EU countries show that people don’t want that.
