@calebhailey really cool idea, thanks! Do people make opml files available at a url ? I have the option to upload one, but I password protected the form at the moment: feedbagel.com/import

I like your idea better though with regular updates from a url, really cool! Gonna look into that when I get chance

@calebhailey thanks, yeah I'll look into this, I think it could help surface those feeds that don't show in search or AI results! If I add lots of OPML from random people

I helped someone learn the joys of RSS feeds today.

I am so thankful the tool exists that helps me curate my own internet experience… I can stay up to date in ways I couldn’t before, and I’m seeing updates to things that I would have lost without it.

I am following so many lovely artist bloggers, and when folks make new posts I don’t have to worry about missing the notification they have a new one that they shared on some social media walled garden whose algorithm hides it from me because it has an external link.

My reader isn’t fancy (It’s called ReadKit and it’s for Apple) but it keeps me informed.

Now to encourage people to stop using platforms to share their stuff and start using their own websites. I shouldn’t need to join some company’s silo container to see your latest news.

Here’s my blog. Type in the web address into your reader. It’ll set you up.

@calebhailey that's a great collection, I'm just looking for OPML files to try on this side project feedbagel.com

Actually, what do you think of an OPML page on there that will link to your site, like a attribution for feed curations?

Internet friends (and future friends!): I'm putting together a talk about joyful weirdness on the web and was looking for examples of what other people have fallen in love with:

Could I ask you to show me examples of weird, delightful, unexpected websites and webapps you've made or seen?

@jessie hey I made a typewriter, does it count?

Who on this #mastodon uses #RSS? I just made 🥯 FeedBagel – feedbagel.com

An RSS feed finder #API that categorises feeds with #AI, and saves them for browsing and searching

any feedback welcome and appreciated! #webdev #design

📝 New post: It's about blogging. I think you should have a blog and I'm generally not opinionated in how you do that... except in this one case.

@davatron5000 on a similar note, I see people turning to twitter for ‘microblogging’, but tweets just disappear in the noise. To me everyone is writing in the same style. They are posting fancy stuff but when every post is showing off something impressive, nothing is impressive..all looks the same

Id recommend blogging to them too, in addition or as priority over medium/twitter etc

So Substack is throwing money again at select journalists to help them become “independent.” That word has become so devalued in the age of Walled Gardens 2.0.

Hi friends,

The alt-text.org alt text library project needs a new leader, I have brain cancer.

I built a working, scalable, proof of concept library of shared alt text with fuzzy matching.

I'd like to connect with the #accessibility dev community. I want to hand the project off to a team or a leader if anyone is willing to take it over.

Github: github.com/alt-text-org
WIP MVP: a site designed for writing alt text with a private library: my.alt-text.org

Boosts appreciated

I recently moved from ‘serverless’ on #Vercel to self hosting my #nextjs app

You can use #github actions for auto deploy and get zero downtime deployments with #nginx - wrote a guide how to do it here 👉 prototypr.io/post/nextjs-selfh #development #coding
