@Crell
I feel you, Larry. I’m truly grateful that I was able to retire at the end of 2024, just before these AI chickens really came home to roost.
Drupal was good to me for the last 15+ years of my software career and it gives me the creeps to get all of Dries’ emails now about injecting AI into the Drupal ecosystem. And it’s everywhere now.
Makes me wonder, since LLMs are based on whatever they can steal from actual creative humans, where will the next new ideas come from once all the everyday work is pushed off onto those mediocre (at best) coding engines?
I’m not a luddite, and I do see seriously worthwhile use cases for LLMs, especially in areas like drug development investigations and medical diagnosis, but not the everywhere that it’s being shoehorned into now.
I could even see a lot of this as acceptable if it in fact freed people from the need to work to keep their lives together, but the increased profitability that AI promises will go/is going to make the rich richer, not to reduce the need for the rest of us to spend our days working just to survive - and in fact making it ever harder to do even that.
