Maintaining foss digital painting app Krita, a woman and according to my wife, a stillroom maid. I paint, sculpt and like languages. Also RPG: valdyas.org/galsin/.

Note: I very selectively follow back because my timeline is already overfull. I am also bit cautious about who I let follow me, sorry for that.

…Apparently, there are about 13.4 million commercial flight hours per year.

So that’s about 36.7k flight hours per day.

At 10k litres of kerosene per hour, that’s 367 million litres of a one-time hydrocarbon jackpot pissed into the air each day, never to be seen again.

Totally normal

@skinnylatte I was invited to my Indian colleagues/friends homes when I was in Bangalore a couple of times.

And once I had a mango that made me never eat a Dutch supermarket mango again. And never eat a supermarket banana again.

One friend's mom gave me a mango I still dream of, another's mom a few bananas small as fingers I still lust after.

Drawing tablet give-away!

We recently reviewed the Huion Kamvas 16 (Gen 3), and now we plan to give it away to a young European cartoonist. All you need to do is send us a recent political cartoon and a short motivation before September 15. More details on our blog: blog.cartoonmovement.com/2025/

George Square
by Jackie Kay

My seventy-seven-year-old father
put his reading glasses on
to help my mother do the buttons
on the back of her dress.
‘What a pair the two of us are!’
my mother said, ‘Me with my sore wrist,
you with your bad eyes, your soft thumbs!’

And off they went, my two parents
to march against the war in Iraq,
him with his plastic hips, her with her arthritis
to congregate at George Square where the banners
waved at each other like old friends, flapping,
where they’d met for so many marches over their years,
for peace on earth, for pity’s sake, for peace, for peace.

The street that my mum lives in is a one-way street, but wasn't marked as such on #Google Maps. This caused many drivers to drive the wrong way. I have tried to edit it on Google Maps (there is such functionality), but to no avail. No matter how often I submitted a change (with photos of street signs!), Google said "Sorry, we could not verify it".

Solution: Edit the street on #OpenStreetMap! A few months after I did this, Google seems to have stolen the data, as it regularly does, and now the street is correct in both datasets!

That was a pretty large and boisterous pride walk that passed our house just now. We're both not fit enough to actually join, but we stepped out to wave at the people, standing holding each other on our doorstep.

I felt it wouldn't be nice make pictures, but the people in the march were so cool!

On my way to the doctor this morning, poppies and an OBB night train.

@blue Dunno about Ecotalk, but I've got a fairphone, and there's nothing about it that makes me go "I should've got a different phone".

It makes photos, calls, texts and runs apps just fine.

@wladimirfischer Oh, the green book series still exists! I used to buy them compulsively, but then real life intervened, so i guess the last one I got in paper format with about Papua New Guinea.

@auschwitzmuseum I don't know why, but sometimes AM photos scroll by in my timeline, and I pause.

I paused, for quite a bit of time, this time.

I was wondering. What stories would he have told his grandchildren? With those wrinkles, he must've been a man who laughed a lot.

With those eyes, he must've seen a lot, even before being deported, entirely lawfully, of course! though let's not talk about ehthics. And he was murdered.

Anyway, eternal memories, Hertog.
