It is *morbidly* fascinating to see the world through the paranoid eyes of Marc Andreessen in this Q&A

deep inside the interview he drops this comment

As he sees it, executives at multiple tech firms felt they were at risk of “full-blown violent riots” by their own employees

“And then of course, Covid hits, which was a giant radicalizing moment. And at that point, we had lived through eight years of what was increasingly clearly a social revolution. Very clearly, companies are basically being hijacked to engines of social ti change, social rev tion. The employee base is going feral. here were cases in the Trump era where multiple companies I know felt like they were hours away from full-blown violent riots on their own campuses by their own employees.”

Ben Shapiro @benshapiro I asked my 4-year-old daughter this morning whether she thought it would be more fun to have a job or be a mommy. She said, "To be a mommy, so I can cuddle my babies." Clearly, she has already been victimized by the patriarchy. Michael Stahlke @MichaelStahlke l asked my six month old the same question and she said, "The false dichotomy in the premise of this question proves the ongoing need for feminism. You would never ask a boy to choose between procreation and professional fulfillment"

For the “why mask?” folks: Your car has brakes, bumpers, crumple zones, seatbelts, lights, airbags, and a collapsible steering wheel column *and more* to reduce your odds of injury.
Yes, you DO need multiple layers of protection. Period.

A bit less than half of toots that include the #Photography hashtag do not include image descriptions (#AltText) for the benefit of #blind and #VisuallyImpaired users, of whom there are many.

Photographers, please do better.

So is someone going to sue Kevin McCarthy and Fox News for this deal to hand over all the Capitol security footage from Jan. 6 to (checks notes) Tucker Carlson exclusively? How is that even remotely legal? @aclu

How Canadians confuse the world:

- We measure outside temp in Celsius and oven temp in Fahrenheit.

- Length in meters and our height in feet.

- Cheese is weighed in kilograms but people are weighed in pounds.

- We speak like Americans, spell like Brits and randomly throw in French words.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Why aren’t Republicans out in front of the idea that we need to build a modern electrical grid which supplies people and our businesses energy in a sophisticated and superior way, increasing American competitiveness in the 21st-century and overall helping everyone’s health?

Is there one single forward-looking idea anywhere to be found in today’s Republican Party? Newsflash, tax cuts for billionaires ain’t it. Standing in the middle of the tracks with your arms folded while the freight train known as the future obliterates you is not a genius political strategy in the long run.

But then, fully investing in developing anything that would help anyone outside their high-level donors is beyond Republicans at this time.

US friends, take note. I went to vote in Berlin today and this was the line in front of the polling station. “But wait! There is no line!” Indeed. There is no line because there need not be one. Because it’s about how polling is organised. If you are standing in a line for hours in order to exercise your democratic rights, it’s because someone wants you to.#polling #democracy #righttovote

A polling station at a school in Germany. We see the front entrance in the distance. More proximally, a small poster stand informing voters where to go. No people standing in line.

Dalai Lama

Buddhist tradition describes three styles of compassionate leadership: the trailblazer, who leads from the front, takes risks, and sets an example; the ferryman, who accompanies those in his care and shapes the ups and downs of the crossing; and the shepherd, who sees every one of his flock into safety before himself. Three styles, three approaches, but what they have in common is an all-encompassing concern for the welfare of those they lead.

Here’s the deal with poppies. You don’t have to go to Walker Cyn, or Lake Elsinore, or Antelope Valley if there’s traffic (there’s traffic).

Most SSE facing slopes that get green after some rain and sun have a pretty good chance of having poppies as weather shifts to spring if there’s been water. If you find a place that blooms, it’ll bloom another year under similar conditions (or better with better), so it’s worth revisiting.

A group of "Scared Scientists" created a website. Here is what one of them has to say...

STATEMENT:

Climate Science underestimated the pace of climate change, it was too conservative. We're now having far more rapid change than originally projected. Change that, if not slowed, will undoubtedly affect my children and my grandchildren.

There is genuine potential for a change in climate to disrupt our global civilisation. If that happens, we know human nature has a dark side, people will fight over an ever diminishing resource pool, and that is a future we want to avoid.

This decade is critical, it is our last chance to prevent our children from that type of world. We have to make significant progress and get the global emissions trajectory turning downwards. That is the urgent task at hand.
