@zverik @alberto oh hey, nice to see someone trying out Kart. How did the experiment go?

We're doing an @foss4g #FOSS4G2023 workshop on Kart tomorrow morning https://talks.osgeo.org/foss4g-2023-workshop/talk/Z7TM9N/ Learn how to version your spatial data. (No registration required, just turn up!)
Making my way to Kosovo for #FOSS4G. Going to be talking Kart, OSGeo and all things GIS for a solid week. Looking forward to meeting a bunch of new people and seeing what the global conference is like. #FOSS4G2023

@dznz those are great points, although if you're attempting to shutter a company it's (a) super expensive and (b) you only get to use that dollar once, in one company. Presumably it would be unethical to sell the productive assets after all.
Ethical investing really means avoiding entire industries and products, and should be self-sustaining. Hopefully it has a supressing effect, but I'm not an economist and I agree its unsatifactory that unethical investors would seem to profit short-term.
@dznz it's correct that it potentially underprices the asset and an owner can make outsized gains. But it reduces the potential capaital available to the company to invest in research & growth, and it increases the capital available to ethical enterprises to do the same.
Been a while since I've been on a plane, so I'm excited to be heading to Fiji for Pacific GIS&RS / #FOSS4G conference next week. Talking all things open source, mapping and Kart. Also looking forward to meeting other #gis #remotesensing and #osgeo people. Hopefully put some faces to names and share some interesting tech. Should be fun. #gischat #geospatial.
I have really wonderful news! #QGIS.org is going to fund a full-time document writer to help the really overtaxed documentation team. Please read the rest of this thread for details!
I'm slowly moving away from https://twitter.com/polemic – 16 years of history is a lot to let go, but Twitter no longer seems safe, sustainable or fun.
There's an 'old internet' feel to mastodon... new possibilities, new ways of doing things, new people (and new problems, no doubt). It's worth a punt on a different paradigm!
