a) cross-platform apps with consistenst UIs

b) a Rust core library

c) chatmail relay servers

covering the same ground as Signal but without depending on Cloudflare/Amazon etc. and supporting federation and variants

I estimated 380/400k, organisers half a million and the police... 20k, the most egrarious figure I've ever heard. That would mean previous rainy demos were around 5k, which is violently deranged. It had to happen: in-chat multi-player #Quake III Arena #webxdc app, running over @n0iroh and using the fine work of https://ioquake3.org/ folks. Quake3 app is 1.2MB but you need to download once a game file of ~50 MB. It's only one level.

Realtime-P2P-networked multiplayer gaming arranged through securely end-to-end encrypted email, from a group chat!

Both Quake3's in-game chat as well as game play messages have forward-secrecy. What a weird future, eh? :)

For every fascist there is a liberal appeaser who doesn't want to rock the boat as long as they get a seat in it. The boat is called capitalism and the rich captains are in control.

One thing radically different in #deltachat compared to Whatsapp and Signal: pervasive, effortless multi-profile support. We understand many worry about how to find others to get in contact with. The dreaded messenger network-scaling problem!

But if you onboard as a *group* that's less of a worry. We aim to ease and further optimize group-onboarding btw. And sooner or later you'll enjoy multi profile. Creating a chat profile without being chained to a phone number. Freedom and resilience.
