@gsymon For this particular threat, JokerSpy, it’s very unlikely that you would get infected via a Mac App Store app. The initial infection vector (i.e. how JokerSpy’s first stage gets onto a Mac in the first place) is currently undiscovered, however.

We have seen potentially unwanted apps (PUA), and apps from questionable developers, distributed through Apple’s App Stores in the past, so it’s a good idea to exercise caution even if you exclusively download apps via the App Store.

This month, 2 research teams independently discovered a new #Mac #malware family: JokerSpy.
